Almost everything Almanac makes is aged in a wine barrel. Great beers. Of course, Russian River has been known to make some great sours that came from wine barrels as well.

Westbrook Red Wine Can Can and 2013 Red Wine Mexican Cake were really good!

I was lucky enough to get a growler of Terrapin's Monk's Revenge aged in red wine barrels. The wine barrel brought the base beer to another level.

I have had all four of Goose Island's "sisters" which are aged in wine barrels. Those were all tasty brews. I have a bottle of Prairie Wine Barrel Noir that I haven't tried yet, but I'm sure it's good. Also, Victory has Red Thunder which is a baltic porter aged in red wine barrels. That one was a fairly decent brew. Additionally, Nebraska Brewing has a beer (I'm butchering the name/spelling) Apricot Au Saviogn (sp?) which is again aged in wine barrels. Very good brew.

Old Marley by Hooker is a great winter beer. You get a wonderful mellow character from the wine barrel aging.

I didn't mention them earlier because I figured they had already been mentioned, but both Abyss and Mirror Mirror spend time in wine barrels.

Abyss also has some bourbon barrel aging going on, and both get fresh, non-barrel aged beer blended into the overall mixture.

BFM Abbaye de Saint Bon-Chien is aged in barrels previously used for Merlot, Merlot Cabernet, Whisky and then Grappa.

Alvinne Cuvee de Mortagne is aged in Pomerol barrels.

De Dolle Stille Nacht Reserva is aged in Bordeaux barrels.

Scaldis Prestige de Nuits is aged in Bourgogne de Nuits-St-Georges barrels.

I'll exclude sours because they are the obvious choice, so in addition to that I have really been enjoying a few other styles aged in wine barrels lately, particularly IS's and Old Ales. My opinion is wine barrel aging these high gravity styles is the next big thing.

Mirror Mirror from Deschutes... Tried it on tap while on vacation in Hawaii and then had to hunt it down upon return because we liked it so much!

Not had many, but the Heavy Seas mentioned above sticks in my mind as being very tasty.

Many of the beers in this thread wouldn't meet the criteria of your last sentence, but the Victory Red Thunder suggestion is a fit (and at a great price). Terra Incognita would also qualify for the time being - grab one of those while they are still around.

I've really grown to love stouts aged in wine barrels. Morticia from Goose Island Brewpub is insanely good to me. Gives it a stout aged with fruits taste. I wish they bottled it.

As mentioned, MOA Imperial Stout and Allagash Interlude are both incredible beers. Interlude with four years on it literally tastes like carbonated red wine.

I'm surprised no one mentioned Prairie Puncheon but that beer is delicious.
