Good afternoon folks! I have a friend living in Chico, CA and they have offered to get some beer for me that I cannot get here in NC. I am not sure what might be available in that area. Can anyone offer any information about what west coast beers I should have them look for in that area? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! PS - I prefer pales, IPAs, sours, and stouts. Thanks!
Thanks, TF. I am trying to narrow it down to their particular area. For example, while such breweries as Elysian, Hair of the Dog, Kern River, Logsdon, and Upright are available in CA, I don't know if any of them are available in the Chico area.
What ever the local non-distro SN stuff is. Their Old Chico ESB is pretty tasty and ONLY sold in Chico + SN tap rooms. Bottle shops in Chico tend to be somewhat limited. Elysian is not distributed in CA, HotD has VERY limited distro, KRBC doesn't send bottles up north. Logsdon is a bit more available, and Upright is pretty available that I've seen through out nor-cal.
Chico gets Deschutes (Abyss and BBXX series stick around for a few weeks each year), SN usually has one or more tasty beverage only available on site, Lost Abbey (a few barrel aged but all of the standard releases), The Bruery (in NC?) That's what I can remember off the top of my head. I just move from there in February, so I'll let you know what else pops up in my head.
best selections will be at mangrove liquor, S&S Produce, and occasionally star liquors on Nord Ave. Although there could be better options of late, haven't been in town for a while.
Spike's Bottle Shop has the best selection now. In addition to the list above, last time I was in town they had also just gotten in Two Towns Cider from Oregon, which is wonderful.
