I was in Florida a couple weeks ago and discovered this beer.

    Sweetwater IPA

I realize it comes out of Atlanta, however since I'm in Indiana I cannot get my hands on it. I've tried quiet a few ipa's and this have by far been my favorite. Shocking enough to me. Are there any beers that are similar in taste profile to this? Or anyone know of distribution in Indiana?
    Thanks in Advance!

It has a basic malt profile of 2-Row, Munich, and Wheat, but what I'm thinking you're finding satisfying is the hop profile, which includes Chinook, Cascade, and Columbus. It's also finished with Simcoe and US Golding.

So I think your best bet is to look for IPA's in the 6-7% ABV range that are brewed with Chinook, Cascade, and Columbus. I don't know if that helps, but it might be a good start in your search for beers with a similar taste profile.

    Cheers!

It is literally everywhere in OH if you wanted to travel or trade for with low shipping cost.

Have you tried Heavy Seas Loose Cannon? I think the flavor profile is somewhat similar, but it is not nearly as perfumey

I know this doesn't really help the OP but, whenever I'm jonesin' for some Cigar City Tocobaga Red Ale, I buy some Sweetwater IPA. I find the hop profiles to be very similar.

Not sure where in IN you are, but they do distribute throughout the entire state of Ohio and will be rolling into Illinois in the next month as well.

A quick Google search from Sweetwater themselves…

Cool, I had seen a Homebrew clone in the past that had all Simcoe....

    I love this beer.

Once again, this won't be of any help to the OP, but Foothills Hoppyum has similar characteristics

This is the beer that got me into IPAs. Went through so many tackleboxes. Even though I think of it as a very simple beer, I can't think of anything too similar actually.

That is an interesting observation. I have had Hoppyum a few times and I have never really liked that one (I am all about supporting our local breweries and Jade is one of my favorite IPAs of all time) Hoppyum just doesn't do it for me, but I had some Sweetwater IPA from a can last summer and I really enjoyed it, I need to try them side by side sometime. Correct me if I am wrong but I recall Sweetwater being kind of grapefruit juicy like. Whereas Hoppyum is more bitter and malty not a whole lot going on with that one. The OP is from Indiana wouldn't Zombie Dust or some IPA from Three Floyds be similar? I have only had Zombie Dust and Alpha King, seems like ZD was probably closer because I remember it being kind of citrus forward and balanced.

About two summers ago, I drank Sweetwater IPA almost every day and got burned out on it, but it is a really good beer. I'll have to buy some soon to see how it hits me now...

I used to love this beer on my yearly trip to TN. I found 12 packs in DC last spring and it just did not do it for me. Just had a few brought back from TN and they did not do it either. All were very fresh. Tastes change or did the beer?

    Enjoy

I agree with you on the Hoppyum comparison to Sweetwater. I have had plenty of both, strongly preferring Sweetwater. I don't find them to be very similar, personally.

Not sure if they have a problem with batch variation or if it's the distro and storing but I find major variations in taste (keeping the date in mind as well)

It changes fast.. You can get get it relatively fresh, it's an absolute grapefruit bomb. Otherwise, it's just a slightly above pedestrian IPA that you can find anywhere like it.

I enjoy it from time to time, infact, I have some fresh cans of it, and it's drinking pretty good when I have a craving for a clean, no frills IPA.
