In many cases, this is what I think also.

Alvinne changed breweries not too long ago. The old bottles were notorious for gushing, lot of them were in bad shape, sometimes minor infections etc. They started brewing beers that are less likely to gush (high ABV, things like that), improved a lot as brewers and started making more interesting beers. A lot of the recent stuff from the BA series is really good, it is still best to pick and choose. Like the BA Melchior ones are really impressive and some other stuff.

Hof ten Dormaal – the expensive stuff is mainly the BA ones. Those are not that good, overpriced & some downright terrible - some of the early ones are nice. The regular non-BA stuff is really good and should be more affordable. Wit Goud is for instance really interesting, unique and good. Also don't get Winter 13 - that one is not very good. Wit Goud, Donker, Blond and Amber are the way to go. If you want to try a BA one, original series nr. 4 & 3 are the best ones. The original one not the 2013 series.

Oh well, gushing and infections with them... I know. But what I didnt know is that they changed breweries. Still I have always thought, that Alvinne is intersting. It is good to hear, that they are improved and still brew those interesting beers. If I remember correct, I havent had any their BA beers yet. I defenetely pick up BA Melchior, if I will see it and maybe some other as well.

I have had Stillwaters Bronze Age. Maybe there is some similarities with Hof ten Dormaals own beers?

There should be similarities with Bronze Age since from what I hear Brian doesn’t really brew & same water, ingredients etc. The one I had was infected, it was a keg before the official release – haven’t had it since, I cannot really judge.

Let's see...the following in order of can't live without.

    1. Ballast Point - Sculpin and V @ S are probably my two most-consumed beers right now.
    2. Founders - Every seasonal is good, and there's always a seasonal.
    3. Firestone Walker - Best BA beers of all time.
    4. Great Lakes - If a brewery could receive aggregate points for all of its components, GL would get the most from
    me.
    5. Southern Tier - Some of the most intense flavors out there.
    6. Lagunitas - Consistently good brews, excellent lighter styles too.
    7. Cantillon - What little I've tried (three or four kinds) speaks volumes of what I haven't.
    8. Bells - Hopslam, Two Hearted, some of their limited stuff, and their tap room. It's what I grew up on.
    9. Oskar Blues - Ten FIDY anyone?
    10. Sierra Nevada - For Bigfoot and Celebration.
