My brother lives in Michigan and is coming to visit me in North Carolina. I want him to bring me some unique beers from the state. Anyone have suggestions on a few I wouldn't see down in the south?
Founder's Red's Rye .... Founder's Kentucky Breakfast Stout .... Bell's Two Hearted IPA ... New Holland Dragon's Milk ... Brewery Vivant Big Red Coq ... Founder's Old Cremudgeon ... to name a few
The only one we may not get here is the Brewery Vivant, and I feel like I've seen that. Kuhnhenn's is a good recommendation. We do get Dark Horse now, though probably not everything you have in MI. Use this beer distribution spreadsheet to see which breweries distribute in MI but not NC.
I get Bells and Founders....good call on Shorts. I don't think we get Jolly Pumpkin either but I don't know any of their beers. Same with Dark Horse. Thanks for the advice people.
Anything from Dark Horse is going to be very good, and their Perkulator Dopplebock is on store shelves now.
Does your brother live near Kalamazoo? If so send him to Bell's General Store. Their 750 ml series has Bourbon Barrel-Aged Batch 9000 and their Wedding Ale in the store now.
If Bell's General Store is an option for him then be forewarned that the Batch 9000 is pricey at $26.50 per bottle, with a limit of three.
You want Shorts and Kuhnhenns. The rest that people have mentioned we get in NC. With the exception of certain special releases.
Sure thing! I use it whenever I'm visiting a state and want to see what they get that we don't here in NC.
If he lives near Grand rapids, have him grab a growler from Perrin. They are a new and very well put together brewing co, Everything that I have had has been very solid.
