Hello, everyone I just have a question. My Sister-in-law and brother-in-law are coming home to Michigan to visit from the Hampton Roads area, so I was wondering what beers I should have them bring that I cant find here in Michigan? Any suggestions are welcome I just need a list to her by early next week Thanks, Cheers!!
Id post this in the Mid-Atlantic forum. Should hit some BA's with some more familiarity with VA Beach.
We have lots of good beers in VA that don't make it far beyond our borders, but that's changing. For beers close to Hampton Roads, look for St. George (Hampton)--the porter is great--and Alewerks (Williamsburg)--Coffee House Stout or Grand Illumination Barleywine. From the Charlottesville area, look for Blue Mountain (I like Full Nelson) or Devil's Backbone (big winners at the 2012 GABF.) From Northern Virginia, you should be able to find Port City (their Porter won the Washington Post's Beer Madness competition a couple of years ago) and maybe Lost Rhino. Total Wine carries most of these--good luck.
Williamsburg alewerks, blue mountain, devils backbone, port city if you can get them to come to richmond and pick up some hardywood.
Depending on what you like: Williamsburg Aleworks · Pumpkin Ale · Bourbon Barrel Porter (Grape and Gourmet) · Washington’s Porter · Café Royale Milk Stout (in season mid to late Nov) · Bitter Valentine DIPA (in season spring) St. George Brewing · American Brown Ale · Imperial Stout · Porter · English IPA O’Connor · Red Nun Red Ale · Great Dismal Black IPA
