There are lot of craft beers on this site that ride the line between beer and something else. The Lime-a-Rita's are the same deal. It's all a matter of preference. I couldn't care less how people define every beverage, if it tastes good I'll drink it. My understanding is that these are malt liquors with flavoring added. Is malt liquor not beer? If you aren't allowed to add flavors, there would be a boatload of craft options no longer considered beer.

I seriously question the amount of "malt liquor" in Lime a Rita. So in my opinion, yes, there should be some kind of standard that excludes these obviously fake beers from the database.

Yeah, but that's a case in which the bottle got bigger - the old Courage bottles were labeled 170 ml (so, approx. 5.75 US oz.).

I suppose that would make sense, and also explain why I don't see as many other brands using them as well.

Definitely, and I'm sure A-B had it all figured out- but imagine of you went to extra innings?!! The horrors.

Sounds a slightly better idea than we had in our cricket league, where you had to drag a dimpled pint out to the covers and pray no one hit the ball near you. And those were Imperial pints!

So, where's the line? With all the crap they put in craft beer these days there's a lot of brews that really don't taste beer. If Shorts came out with a Margarita Beer, people would probably be all over it

The mango n especially the raz are great. Love em. My guilty pleasure honestly. Dollar a can at the grocery store is fantastic. Or the 18 bucks a case. Great deal

He didn't say anything about "why the hell would you drink that" or "that stuff is shit anyway so who cares", he simply stated that he had no experience with it. I'm not sure why you feel the need to come to the aid of the poor hapless MBC drinker here.

only if your session ale is <4%... i'm calling a 'session' ale anything under 6, so that'd be more like a 4pk.

No, malt liquor is not beer; it's malt liquor.

I have one of these in the cellar that I'm looking forward to on a special day

If he has no experience with it then why bother to post? The only reason he did was to take a shot at how crappy the product is. Respecting beer is also about respecting the drinker and their choice. Just like in life, if it doesn't involve you and you can't help then move along cause it doesn't concern you. people who get sand in their vag about someone drinking bmc stuff is no different then they bmc person who looks down on the craft drinker. Either end of that spectrum is a person that I wouldn't want to be around or associated with.

I just came here to say I love the small bottles. Beers like Parabola and Black Tuusday are too hard to drink. You have to do a bottle share or have someone to split them with

Seems to be a pretty broad assumption by you considering his post said nothing of the sort. For someone advocating "leave the other guy alone", you aren't exactly doing that.

What? No, die in a fire! You don't know what you're talking about anyways. First off, it's "I could care less" not "I couldn't care less" because it shows that you could care but you're so gauche that you choose not to. Second off, I bet you're some newb that doesn't know crap about craft beer. When did you even join bro? I bet you just started drinking beer and you just joined in… Wait, 2004?

Seriously though, the -----a-rita stuff isn't terrible. I mean, it's really really shitty "beer" but I don't drink it when I want a beer. I drink it when I want a facsimile of a margarita. It is to beer what McDonald's is to dinner. It's not good for you and it's low quality but it satisfies a certain guilty pleasure.

Don't those come in tall boys anyway? At least, I'm pretty sure the Straw-berrita does

That is a very good question! IMHO it should be connected with the process of brewing the beer. If the product is produced with at least 98 percent of the end product by traditional beer making then it's a beer. otherwise its a gimmicky false malt liquor and should not be included in the BA database as a beer.
