I have friend looking to purchase me some beers in the Annapolis area. Where is the best bottle shop that he can pick me up some nice Allagash and Lips of Faith. Anything else I should tell him to look for? I live in Florida. Thanks, Bobbyearl
It might help of you tell is what beer style you like the most. Are trying to get local beers our just something you cannot get in Florida?
Bay Ridge Wine and Liquor has the reputation for being the best place in the Annapolis area for finding a good selection of craft beer. Both New Belgium and Allagash are readily available in Maryland, so your friend should find a good supply of both there. It sounds as if you like Wild Ales and Belgian style beers, so I would ask your friend to see about bringing back some Stillwater and Brewer's Art stuff as well. Also, Evolution brewing makes some very nice beers, so maybe have your friend pick up some of their stuff (if you're into IPA's and DIPA's, the Evolution 3 and Evolution 6 are both solid, well made beers). You mentioned that your friend will be in the Annapolis "area," and I confess I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that. In any event, other stores fairly near to Annapolis that are also excellent include Dawson's and Fishpaws market. Both places should have a good supply of the beers I've referred to above. Good luck.
he lives in edgewater. You know how it is there. so many little towns that are inside or right next to a larger city. I really appreciate it. I am definitely into sours, but really was just looking for a store with a wide selection of beers that he can send me stuff not avaiable in Florida. Thanks for the heads up on Brewers art. Anything in particular by them that I should have him watch for?
Bay Ridge and Fishpaws have the best selection of the places I have been to in the area, however, I will say that Bay Ridge is more expensive than most places I've been to.
I always recommend crossing the bridge to Kent Island / Stevensville and making a stop at Love Point Deli, they have a fantastic selection of beer and make the best sandwiches in the area.
As everyone else said, Bay Ridge and Fishpaws are your best bets. I know both of them still have some 2012 La Folie. I find both of their prices to be pretty comparable....but relatively expensive overall
If it's available, the green peppercorn tripel is pretty good, and resurrection ale is probably their biggest seller. The latter is supposed to be similar to a Belgian style dubbel, but that's probably a stretch. In my mind, it's more like a Belgian style pale ale. Still pretty tasty though...
