I buy a good amount of my beer from a little liquor store in Heavener Oklahoma known as Sooner Liquor because it's the closest place to me, and while the people are nice and the price is fine I don't know what's available to me other then their current inventory whenever I walk in there. Years ago they use to order beer for me on occasion and I was able to get pretty much whatever I liked and bought it by the case (how I prefer to buy my beer). However, something seems to have changed over the past few years and now when I ask if I can get something, they check and I pretty much always get a reply that they can't get it. I hate bothering people and I don't want to ask if they can get a thousand different beers until I finally find one that I would feel good paying for, so how would I find out what beers are available to me at this location? I want to be able to research the beer online and see if it's something I'm interested in before I ask them to order it, I don't just drink beer because it's beer.
There was a time when I tried to get beers from my local in Grove, just wasn't worth it. Cost was higher & half the time they told they couldn't get said beers, but I would see them all over Tulsa. I feel your pain...
Moonshiners in McAlester is the only beer store I've found remotely in your area. Let me know if you find something else out that way.
You guys are in a world of hurt in SE Ok I can concur. My parents live in Ada and I visit frequently and have to make sure I stock up for the trip because it is a true wasteland. That being said, there has to be more folks like yourselves who are interested in good beer, so I keep thinking the time is ripe for a beer store or bar of substance going in somewhere down there. A real destination kinda place. Might be risky of course, but could be a big hit too.
Northside in Poteau has a decent selection for a small town. Definitely more emphasis on imports and the larger micros. Try Ft. Smith. Sodies on Phoenix has some interesting craft stuff, and shamrock does too from time to time. I'm really curious what you were drinking from sooner, because the last time I was in there the only palatable beer they had was Guinness and there was dust on the bottles. My cousin used to work there and said they basically made their living selling pints of Kentucky deluxe to the alcheys.
