Hey everyone. My brother is going to be in the Bay Area on May 9th. What cool stuff should I have him bring back to SC? Thanks a ton!
Quick search produces many results https://www.beeradvocate.com/commun...n+Francisco&o=date&c[title_only]=1&c[node]=15
If you like rare(ish) packaged stuff (e.g., Alvarado Street, Temescal, Fieldwork, occasionally Moonraker, SARA, etc.) and willing to spend a bit more coin follow Crafty Fox's can list on their website. Otherwise there's a plethora of stuff in the City, just depends on styles and brewers you're specifically seeking.
SC has a surprisingly good distribution. I just moved to the Bay Area, and was suprised/a bit disappointed at how little difference there was in selection. That being said...Cellarmaker*, Alvarado Street, Fieldwork, SARA, and Russian River are all excellent choices we don't have back home! I have also seen some FW Bravo & Parabola still hanging around and Deschutes Abyss. Oh, and Rare Barrel if you're into sours *Only bottle available is Dank Williams and it will probably be sold out by the 9th (sorry just saw the date he will be here)
If you're into sours, Almanac's new restaurant on 24th has a well-stocked fridge of their stuff. If he's near the south side of the city today, both Pi Bar on Valencia and Steep Brew on 17th will have Pliny the Younger bottles. And if he's willing to lug growlers your options overfloweth...
What are prices of bottles of Russian River sours? Will be visiting June 1st weekend. Any other releases coming out that weekend?
Unless you're going to RRBC, you likely won't come across them. They're pretty rare in the wild (although admittedly, I've been seeing a smattering of them here and there lately.) But they're priced about $15'ish for a 375mL bottle
I'm heading up to RR once I land on thursday and am going to stock up. Been on my list to visit for a while! Is city beer store the bottle shop to check out in San Francisco? I'm staying in Union Square.
Going to be in SF in a week. Planning on hitting cellarmaker, fieldwork, rare barrel, russian river. City beer store for bottles. For bars Mikkeller, Toronado. Any other recommendations for bars with good taplists in reasonable distance of Union Square? Will be with the family most of the time so spots that have a nice atmosphere with good beer would be great!
Probably best not to bring the family to Tornado. Atmosphere is a little rough. Cash only as well. Fermentation Lab is up Market, fairly close to Mikkeller. http://www.fermlabsf.com/
Hopwater does have a good Cali-centric list, and the fries and the chicken sandwich are good. There aren't a lot of "family friendly bars" with good beer lists that close to the Tenderloin. but it sounds like you have a car if you're headed to Rare Barrel and Russian River. While you're in the East Bay for Rare Barrel, both Drake's Dealership and Temescal Brewing have big outdoor areas and will let kids in. If the kids aren't with you, Beer Revolution is great in the same ways Toronado is great, plus outside seating. 0L (nought-L, beer-shop.org) has a good tap list and is a little out of the way in Walnut Creek, but if you're going to Russian River, you're on the road anyway... You can also take a nice afternoon walk through the southern end of the Mission and hit some good tap lists and pub food--from Union Square, go three stops on BART and get off at 24th street, and walk to 25th and Valencia to Pi bar. From there, back to 24th and Mission to Rosamunde Grill, then to Big Rec on 24th--hit happy hour and a lower priced beer+a decent cheeseburger is $10. Chicken sando also solid. Then, on down to Almanac. Get there by 6 Tuesday-Friday and save $2 on full pours, making them almost affordable. Then walk the fam back to BART, and go to Toronado, Zeitgeist, or Benders and do things you won't remember. There's also a good walk through "La Lengua" that could be Rosamunde, Pi bar, Bel, and Old Devil Moon, and some barbecue+and Anchor Steam at Baby Blues...
Going to be in San Francisco in two week. Thinking about taking BART over to Berkeley then hit up rare, temescal and field. Is Bart easy to use? Also any good places to get food over there?
