Maybe some of you out there have had a moment when you've just had one too many beers in a row that didn't do anything for you (or flat out disliked), and your enjoyment starts to slip. Then you have a beer that grabs hold of you and reminds you why you got so enthusiastic about this beverage in the first place. It could have been a beer you've never had before or it could have been an old standby. Maybe it's not even a beer you think too highly of, but it was the right beer at the right time and it turned you around nonetheless (and your wallet has never forgiven you). Off the top of my head, I'd say Against the Grain's Jerrytall and Pretty Things' Jack D'or have done this for me. What were yours?
I dont get it, you start to not like craft beer, then you have a craft beer and you're like oh yeah I like craft beer? Seems more of a I was in a rut/so and so/blah blah long cool story br0/lets just list/name (rare)beers we like/have. I think we have enough of those threads around here.
With all the new beers that are constantly coming out and expanding distribution from existing breweries, I've never lost any enthusiasm for beer.
IPA's were starting to be the one item that taxed me the most in the aisle. Is this one fresh? Is this one fresh? I got a bit of palate fatigue to boot. Then out of the blue I tired Beachwood's Melrose IPA. That beer made me so happy. My enthusiasm is renewed.
You have a valid point "Ogre." I wasn't going for yet another variation of the "Top 5 beers for mountain climbing with roller skates" thread - I actually thought I would get some interesting responses. (The beers I mentioned certainly weren't what I thought of as sought after either.) Cheers mate.
Just the style of stouts. I didn't like them all that much when I first started drinking craft, but pretty quickly got obsessed with them. I haven't had much beer the past few weeks, but I've wanted nothing more than some FBS. Ugh..
Well, I tried a bunch of stuff that i have never had before and was in a real slump, pretty dissapointed and all. The last i can remember was Horny Goats Chocolate Cherry Stout that i found thoroughly dissapointing and was getting kinda grumpy about buying "unknowns" and then a friend at a weekly card night offered me a Clown Shoes Galactica and i was instantly very happy. So i was kinda rejuvinated into the constantly trying to buy beers i have never had before thing. Kinda like the X-files. The good stuff is out there.
