@RaulMondesi started a thread to discuss (iconic?) beers that have lost their “[mouth] feel.” What about those stalwarts that still hold up?

For my money, I think post-acquisition Two Hearted still holds up across the board. Perhaps it’s just because I’m drinking more of it, and more often, or because I’m able to get it fresh on tap, but I find it just as good as ever. That frothy, creamy, malty finish from the first sip to the last just hits all the right notes. Still hoping for another pour from the hand pump someday, however…

Two Hearted is the first beer that I thought of when I saw the thread's subject line. For other classic beers, I recently had a Founders Porter and a Pliny the Elder, and both of them seemed the same as always.

Sierra Nevada Pale ale isn’t different from the first time I tried it in 2016.

Pliny and SNPA both came to mind, so I’m in good company. Also, Orval, Saison Dupont, Westmalle Tripel, La Fin Du Monde, Rochefort 10, and Duvel never fail to satisfy.

Just picked up SNPA and damn, did it go great with Pizza the other night. I really should revisit Two Hearted, haven't had it in a a while

Pliny for sure, also Sip of Sunshine, maybe the most consistent beer I've ever had.

It’s crazy that you mentioned Two Hearted, Founders Porter and Pliny all in the same post. All 3 of these beers I find substantially better on tap than from a bottle, more than most all other beers Ive had various times in my life.

Excellent taste and palate sir, it seems those very much World-class beers and styles you named just never changed over the years and decades even. Why change a recipe that made them so popular?

Didn’t need to scroll down a lot below your username to figure out Old Rasputin would be there.

I'd like to try a Pliny again. I had one or two when I first joined BA and was into trading. I remember really liking it, but my appreciation of IPAs is much more now, especially non-hazy and/or candy-like IPAs. I would imagine one could trade for it fairly easily? I haven't traded in ages, ha.

Sip of Sunshine, Pliny the Elder and Heady/Focal Banger all still retain that special "it" in terms of IPAs. I don't drink high ABV beers anymore but I've made exceptions to have one of the previously listed whenever I see them while traveling/get lucky with someone bringing some back to Texas.

Lager-wise Paulaner Oktoberfest Marzen still is my go-to lager year-round for the 1 beer I have a week. That and Weihenstephaner Original Helles are just flat out good, consistent beers that I love.

Heady is still a perfect beer, Maine Beer Co's Lunch is up there too. Never had a bad one of either.

I don’t know if you have a saying like this in French, but over here we say “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”

According to Google translate: “si ce n'est pas cassé, ne le répare pas”

That’s the literal translation and totally accurate too. However I can’t think of another expression of the likes for this one, as in more slang and less literal.

I can 'resonate' with Two Hearted and Pliny as being better on draft since if they were handled properly those kegs would be continuously stored cold which is very important for hoppy beers.

I recently homebrewed a batch of Pliny the Elder and I am storing those beers (bottled) continuously cold to help preserve the hop aromas/flavors of this batch. My other homebrewed batches are just sitting at cellar temperature in my basement.

    Cheers!
