One of my first trades was for a twelve pack of Nugget Nectar. We worked out the deal, and the guy asks me, "Hey, I've got to stop by the brewery to grab your beers. Do you want me to pick up a couple Splinter Golds for you?" I said, "No thanks. Never heard of it."

BCBS Rare. Several bottles on the shelf and although I really liked regular BCBS, I couldn't imagine it being worth $50, so I passed. Couple of days later it was all gone.

Guava GrOOve. Went to the brewery for last years BA Hunahpu release of doom. They had hlaf the middle full of Guava Groove. We said we'll get some on the way out. The cooler was cleaned out except for a couple of 6ers of Jai Alai and Maduro. Wish I would've bought one still to this day :slight_frown:

I passed on Bourbon County Bramble Rye...it was exciting to see a whale on my local shelf but I just wasn't into what I had heard about it.

Only bought 2 bottles of Rumpkin at last year's release, despite seeing it on local store shelves a week later. I had just gotten married and was strained for cash as it was.

...I won't be making that mistake this year

I only bought a bottle of King Henry even though my beer 'gal' told me it'd probably be the only case they'll ever see...I also drank it that night. Wish I had more.

Couple of years back I went to my local bottle shop and they had Partridge In a Pair Tree and 2 Turtle Doves on the shelf. I had just gotten into beer, so I passed them by with out a thought. I did look at them, cause they caught my eye. If I could go back, I'd buy the entire stock of both.

    Oh well.

I love that this thread is about insanely priced beers that we regret not buying. From the title, I'd think it would be about overpriced beers we're glad we didn't buy. Oh well.

Passed up on Fruet ($35/750mL) and Supplication ($30/375mL) while visiting DC. Don't regret not buying either, really.

Rare... I was just getting into craft beer and saw a single bottle on the GI display. I scoffed at the $50 tag. Went home, did some research on it and still didn't pull the trigger. It sat on the shelf for awhile and I always told myself, "next time" until one day it was gone. :slight_frown:

That would be more like dodging a bullet than not pulling the trigger.

To those saying Cantillon, I agree. Used to see them on the shelf all the time before I was into sours and paying $15-20 for a bottle.

I was looking for Abacus while in Chicago on business. I got a tip that a store in the burbs had it. The store also happened to have Rare so I bought a bottle. The guy said we have one more do you want it. I said no because I already felt sick buying a Rare and two Abacus. In retrospect should have picked up that last Rare. That was over a year ago and I still kick myself for it.

Yep. This is what I came to say. Never had King Henry either, but don't think I ever had the chance.

Deviation, a couple months ago. It was just sitting there on the shelf, beckoning me. But at $85 I just couldn't do it.
