I lived in Boston for about 15 years before moving to St. Louis in 2019. I'll be coming into town from 9/24-9/26 (just a weekend) and was hoping to bring back of my favorites that don't get distro out here (e.g. anything from Jack's Abby, Allagash). I may also check out Trillium's Fenway location since we're staying close by. Any tips on what's readily available at retail shops in the area?

Hey there! You should definitely stop by our shop in Seaport area of Boston, Fort Point Market. We got plenty of Allagash, Jack's Abby, Oxbow, Schilling, Hudson Valley Brewing, Jester King, Tilquin and so on. We also have an online shop that's up to date that you can browse, Fortpointmarketstore.com.

I would also go to Notch Brewing in Brighton, incase you want to check other breweries around here. I think they're doing an oktoberfest event on that Saturday you'll be staying.

Any other questions, feel free to pluck our brains for tons of answers. Hope you enjoy your weekend out here!

Thanks! Our schedule is pretty packed that weekend so I'm not sure if I'll get out to the Seaport. But I'll check your site and see if maybe we can arrange a delivery.

Well, I love Fort Point Market and it is the store I frequent the most, but if you are going to be in the Fenway area I would suggest Fenway Beer Store as an option.

Two questions, which will both be pretty generic until I know where I'm staying, so operating on the idea that I'll be staying downtown:

    1. What are fan favorite beer stores within a ~20 minute public transit ride of downtown?
    2. Which restaurants have the best tap lists? Or breweries have the best food?

I'll be in town for work, so my free time will be limited. I always enjoy grabbing food at a brewery or some place with a strong, local tap list. If I have enough time I'd like to pick up some individual bottles and cans. I enjoyed Row 34 on my last visit, which appears to be right by @fortpointmarket , so I'll have to keep that in mind. I didn't get a chance to eat at Trillium last time either, but am open to other options.

That's probably overall the best area if proximity to downtown is of prime importance. Fort Point Market is definitely the best store and Row 34 is among the better boston restaurants (especially if taking taplist into account). Trillium food is good but pricy. City Tap is right around the corner, and I wouldn't recommend it for food (it's not bad at all just very regular), but it has a good taplist and large selection.

If willing to go a little further (still about 20 min from Downtown), Cambridge Brewing Company, Lamplighter, and Lord Hobo (bar not brewery) are all ~5 min walk from each other and are as good or better than the seaport options. At ~30 min, you'd get to Allston where you have Notch (best brewery here), Lulu's (probably the most fun taplist + food combo), and Brato brewing all relatively close to each other as well.

Notch looks absolutely fantastic. I'll have to see if I can make my way out there one night or not. I really enjoy oysters, so trying those in a coastal city is paramount, and Row 34 was utterly fantastic during my last visit.

I appreciate the insight. I'll circle back if I have more questions.
