I have a coworker who is going to Munich and I was going to ask him to bring a few brews back. What beers should I ask him get that are not available in the U.S.?

Other than some smaller draft only places, everything else I know of, is imported here. Then again I have no idea what is imported here or to where you live versus every tiny place in Bavaria. Plus this is going to get moved to Germany forum get ready...

It would be good to know a few details, but we in the Germany forum can help!

-What kind of beer are you looking for?
-When will your co-worker be there, and for how long?
-Do you know exactly where in Munich he will be staying?

These are four of my favorites that he should be able to pick up at a Munich beverage store:
    Augustiner Edelstoff
    Augustiner Helles
    Tegernseer Helles
    Tegernseer Spezial

Not sure what you can get in North Carolina... But, I would suggest anything from Andechser (my personal favorites are the Doppelbock and the Vollbier Hell, but they are all excellent). I'm not entirely sure how available they are at your normal Getränkemarkt in Munich, but the Kloster Andechs isn't too far from Munich, and their beers are normally well-distributed. Another brewery of interest with decent distribution would be Weltenburger (the Asam Bock is particularly excellent).

I would add Rothaus Pils (aka Tannenzäple) to the list if you like pilsners. If you're more interested in something like "German Craft Beer", the Camba Bavaria beers seem to be well liked. Forschungsbrauerei has a few bottles out in shops, but you have to be in their neighborhood (these are also well liked by the BA group). I would second the Augustiner Hell and the Andechs stuff if you can't find Andechs where you are. Kneitinger makes excellent beer but I don't know how easy they are to find in Munich.
