Watch out for really old ipa's. I think the only dating is on the outside of the case. Ryan Sullivan's imperial stout is pretty good though.

This is true. I've only ever had Hopsical on draft because of this.

I keep passing up Clown Shoes. I did try a taster of Vampire Slayer at WFM Katy and was suprised. I've also passed up German beers, prolly because I haven't bothered to browse them thoroughly.

Sumpin Sumpin and Sumpin Wild are fantastic beers.

I agree that stuff is gold. The Hef is still my only 5 star beer and it's the only beer I've bought a six pack of.

I'm still trying other beer, but Hef is one of the very best.

That Double Stout is fucking solid. Our go-to Stout...and on occasion it's <8.99 a four pack.

I personally have skipped everything from Europe that isn't sour. Westy does even move my radar

I (until very recently) always passed up everything by Samuel Smith Brewery. Never tried a single thing from them but always saw them at Spec's and a lot of times at Kroger and HEB. I saw someone tweet the other day that their Organic Chocolate Stout was great and under-appreciated. Out of curiosity, I picked up a bottle the other day and was amazed by how good it was. I looked up their available offerings and sure enough, almost everything is rated "exceptional" on this website.

It scares me that people overlook Lagunitas. Everything they make is good and most is great.

    For me, probably Anderson Valley.

Lagunitas? Holy shit dude, get on that! I'm still afraid one day they'll figure out how awesome their product is and up their prices by 50%. Best value in craft.

I pass over Southern Star, yes cause they are in cans, but no longer. Next chance I get I will rectify that mistake.

I'm going to get this the next time I see it. I don't know if I've ever seen it, I've never heard of it or tried it before, but I do love me a good weizenbock!

A lot of good ones mentioned here already. Green flash double stout and rayon vert are tits. Lagunitas ipa's a really good, especially for the price point. I finally had their Maximus which was almost as good as the last stone enjoy by, and again for the price it's killer. Clown shoes stouts are all pretty good. Lots of good German brews. Schneider aventinus and their sleeper hopfenweisse. Watch out for old hopfenweisse though(Julian dated). Vitus and some of the other German brews are again really good for the price. A good beer guy can really help with the German beers.

For me the biggest one I wouldn't have know about is hopfenweisse. Just be sure it's around half a year old or less. It doesn't need to be super fresh though like an ipa.

Its really damn good....try and get it from a high turnover store as freshness is fairly important on this one. I dont believe they have freshness dating on their bottles. It is light colored, not like Aventinus at all.

Widmer. Never really have checked them out. Matt, was inspired by this thread & picked up their chocolate RIS today, so we'll see.

And I see Anderson Valley on here...I love their Winter Solstice. I know it's a sweet malt bomb, but I sometimes like 'em that way.
