I think their intention was that it's a "Belgian Style" raspberry beer, hence the "Monk" and raspberry color of the "blushing," but that's just my 2ยข.

Back to the main topic: PBR - I don't think they have ever been awarded a blue ribbon for anything...except cheapest beer in the bar.

Something about "Hop Ranch" seems a tad odd to me as a DIPA, especially with a vibrant, fun, go for a walk on a ranch artwork on the label, which to me makes it seem like something low in abv (not sure why I make the connection....just do) then you drink it and it doesn't' come off like a DIPA.....or ranch dressing....Name always seemed unusual to me.

Never Mind the Bollox! from Dugges Ale & Porterbryggeri AB. It's supposed to be a DIPA but they most certainly must have forgotten to introduce hops to the recipe as it's so not anything that resembles and IPA of any form. Can't even say that import lag hop flavor drop off could possibly be to blame, as there just wasn't even a proud reminder of a once hopped up civilization.

'Sucks' by Lagunitas is a self-depricating reference to the brewery during their expansion...that I get

    For me it has been:
    Gandhi-Bot & Heady Topper (coincidentally, both DIPA's)
-The former turns out to be a play on an India Pale Ale packaged in a can (Gandhi = India, Bot = Metallic Vessel)
-The latter is seemingly a marijuana reference with 'headies' being a type of cannabis typically referring to the c. sativa strain.

    I am also bemused by:
Stickee Monkee and mostly all of beers from Clown Shoes

I don't mean this as a complaint, but there are hundreds and hundreds of IPAs that are not pale at all. They are red or brown. As the style has proliferated, brewers just disregarded the pale aspect.

True! Again, Founders comes to mind with Devil Dancer. That sucker's like deep ruby red.

The word 'Pale' refers to the type of malts used, not to the color of the beer.

That's because the "pale" in IPA doesn't reference the SRM of the beer but rather the type of malt used to make it. Even "Black IPA" beers fit the description as long as pale malts are used.

New Braunfels' Brewing Le Fleurs du Mal. Delicious, but that name doesn't say Sour Ale to me.
Never been sure how Victory decided Moonglow = Weizenbock.
And someone explain to me why Breckenridge decided that their hoppy wheat beer decided to be named after a Shakespearean pubescent female suicide, please?

Thirsty Dog Hoppus Maximus is a fine Amber ale but I don't think it's been hopped TO THE MAX!

River horse hop hazard. It's an apa. At the very least you'd assume it was a hoppy apa or an ipa by the name alone, but it's just not hoppy really at all.

"Headies" refers only to high test marijuana not a particular strain. Similar to "chronic"
