Worth the "hype" - HT/Pliny/Blind Pig/ZD/KBS/Kern Citra, never had BCBS or BBPT5th, or anything Cigar City.

Should get more "hype" or accolades, almost anything Alpine, damn fine stuff right across the board. Knuckle Sandwich, Aroma Coma, these are just hard to get for me anyways. The Jug Shop had AC available. but the shipping was a nose bleed so I passed.

Not worth the hype Hopslam IMO way too sweet. My 1st Hopslam was a revelation, but the last few batches/years were way too Sweet.

I'll add Uncle Jacob's to my previous mentions. Shame on me for forgetting about that one.

    Also, Brew Kettle's White Rajah.

I've had quite a few hyped beers and they were all amazing (that's, you know, kinda the point of a hype). The only one that didn't live up to it AT ALL for me was regular Dark Lord. And that was a 2011 vintage. I can't even begin to imagine the horror of fresh Dark Lord on cask.

Looks like people don't think Westvleteren 12, 8 or Blonde deserve their buzz. Trust me, they do.

While I would not use the word "horror" to describe DL, I was a bit underwhelmed. It's very good, don't get me wrong. But it is not the ultimate drinking experience so many have described. <--Having said that, I'm still looking to get hold of one of the BA versions! HAHA

Pretty much everything that comes to mind for me has already been posted.

Except for, Brute! Seriously, one of the best beers I had this year.

    all Cantillons
    Thornbridge IPA on Cask
Any English PA or IPA on Cask (although minimally hyped)
    HotD
    Cascade
    Pliny and Consecration
    Sixpoint Otis on Nitro
    Saint
    Allagash Old HLT
All Anderson Valley (most underrated west coast big scale brewery IMO)
    Sainte Colombe (french smoked beer)

lotsa beers that don't get deserved praise, but all the better for those who enjoy em.

I'm not really aware if there's all that much "hype" behind it or not, but Central Waters 1414 was fantastic when I had it on tap a few months ago.

Again, not going to open the whole "hype" definition can of worms for the 10,000th time, I will put it this way:

Beers that were (or are) very highly rated on this site and that lived up to or exceeded my expectations:

    Westvleteren 12
    Westvleteren 8
    CBS
    KBS

It's the world's best beer, according to WBA.

I thought Two Hearted did indeed live up to the hype. Had my first and only one on tap and it shot me to the moon. Founders Centennial IPA was another I saw talked up here and elsewhere and found it truly lived up to the praise.

Come on knightly, its the WBA. Still, Vitus is mighty fine.

Just tried BCBS for the first time last night and the 09' is everything I hoped it would be. The best stout I have had to date.

Anything good you hear about Founders is true. There is no "hype" - only great beer. Buy with confidence.

Most of the top 100 beers are worthy of the rank (they're there for a reason, right?), but don't get "hyped" on the forums and through word of mouth (e.g., Weihenstephaner's Hefeweissbier) or I haven't had them, so I can't say (e.g., any Russian River or Three Floyds beers)...

BUT seriously, King Henry gets talked up a lot, and it really is that awesome.
