For me its easy - for your fathers root beer or any of the " Root Beer " style. Its simple to me. Way to sweet for me plus I like beer, if I want a root beer I'll have one. Whats next ? 7 up beer ? No thanks. JMO but I think its a style that will fade away quickly.

Short's period. With the exception of Hopstache I think everything they do is overrated.

My biggest I don't get it is all the Stone gimmicky beers. Here's our same beer with peppers. Or some other strange ingredient. Meh.

Grapefruit Sculpin - Not because I think it is horrible. Every once and awhile I'll pick up a six pack. I do love grapefruit. I just think the artificial grapefruit flavoring takes away from an otherwise solid IPA. The reason I don't get it is because I feel like the craft movement was built on authentic high quality ingredients. Maybe I'm just hopelessly naïve.

Pumpkin beers. Every year I fall into the trap and try a different one and have yet to try one that I like.

Only one. Bourbon County Brand Barleywine. Simply a bad beer in my opinion. Flat Coca Cola with a bow on it.

Hopslam. Sold 15 cases in a day at my store, but all it has going for it are a lot of hops. Kinda 1-dimensional.

I'm not sure if I just have an anti-Michigan bias, but Bell's is a general disappointment, and I don't understand why Founders is so expensive. I mean, I like their stuff, but they seem to have taken up the call to become the Midwestern version of Ballast Point.

I also don't "get" the point of most BA beers, especially the big stouts and barleywines. They are smooth, they are silky, I can taste the vanilla, they really show off the brewery's talent and skill, etc...etc... But when push comes to shove, I can have maybe 3/4 of one before they become sickeningly sweet and I am forced to endure the dreaded 'gulp'. I feel like I'd rather just have the Bourbon that inspired the beer in the first place.

That is my all time favorite beer. I wish more people thought the same as you so it would be easier for me to get!:grinning:

I got three bottles from 2013. If you work in NYC I would be happy to trade them for anything decent !

Hopslam...but I think it gets better with age (I know, heresy to the faithful...).

Grapefruit Sculpin, to me the grapefruit flavoring completely takes over and hides the hop flavor that I'm actually paying for. If I want an alcoholic beverage that tastes like grapefruit juice I'll mix up a greyhound. I also think it's overpriced but that's a seperate topic.

I don't see the point in putting big bourbon barrel aged beers in bombers/750s. They are almost always so sweet that I'm sick of them after about 4-6 oz. so even a 12oz bottle is plenty to share.

Stone Ruination 2.0, while I love the move to sixers for only ~$1 more than the 4 packs, the beer itself is now too similar to all the other fruity IPAs that have come out in the past few years. Original Ruination was a classic, bring it back...the new label sucks also.

Roth Brewing (now closed) Mi Mei Honey Plum Hefeweizen - it sounded conceptually like a good idea but it was horrible in practice... Honey plum wine inspired hefeweizen that tasted like rotting plums in an overripe banana.

Is this thread about not getting the,"beer," or not getting the hype surrounding specific beers?

Because things like Two Hearted are good beers. Easy drinking, accessible. They are easy to, "get."

But I fully understand not getting the hype around it in 2015.
