A pint of cask Young's Ordinary (Rams Brewery) at The Duke's Head on Putney Bridge. Old Nick (bottle) from the same brewery. Fuller's ESB (the original recipe from the 70's) at The Dove in Hammersmith. Boddingtons (Manchester brewery) on cask at any Student Union bar in the North. Brakspear Bitter (cask) in The Angel at Henley- on -Thames.
Hopback Amber needs a return; I drank so much of that beer. Yea me too, every time I go there is a huge amount of R & D beers that are very Dog Fish of old like, and at least one throwback beer. I love going to Milton, we make it there usually 1-2 times a year when we go to Lewes. I should note these are usually on tap only so if you were talking to go options yea, more just standard stuff usually. Rehoboth does can throwbacks but we’ve never time up our trip with one unfortunately.

Yeah, used to look forward to the Thomas Jefferson each summer. But as a restaurant, it is a true loss as well. We had many special occasions there (as well as less special ones) because it was such a good restaurant.
Another beer I miss is Red White and Blue Was it a great beer? No But, even now , when I see a pic of a can of Red White and Blue It instills great memories from when I was young. Sitting around a dorm room drinking, smoking and joking with the boys. It was our "Shooting" beer of choice! Summer time Sitting on the beach with a Styrofoam cooler filled with ice and Red White and Blue Grilling on the patio. The smell of burgers and brats on the Weber grill. The Fourth of July. I always bought Red White and Blue on the 4th of July. ' ' '
I remember touring Pabst Milwaukee in the late 70s. I lamented that Pabst Old Tankard Ale was virtually impossible to find. He told me that they were maxing out their capacity with RW&B, so Old Tankard was being discontinued. So I thought of RW&B as a villain intruder, of sorts. It didn't even have the funky history of the beer I sometimes drank in southern CA, Pabst's Eastside.
I like the call outs on Watney's Red Barrell. After my summer in Europe in the mid-80s, I came back and drank them pretty steady for a couple of years before transitioning to SN Pale Ale and Pete's Wicked. Love the comments about missing the 80s beers like Michelob, Lowenbrau, and I would add Molson. Those were some classy beers at the time! Do I miss them? Not so much.
I have fond memories of drinking these with my uncle while going on our annual summer boat/camping trip on the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers while I was a teenager.
Augsburger was available in so-cal in the early 80’s only a few stores had not sure which one but yes an all malt beer.
JessKidden comes through again. https://sites.google.com/site/jesskidden/jksmisc-beerpages/all-malt-beers Augsburger wasn't all malt, but was about 80% at the time. It had a full bodied flavor, probably a result of careful processing resulting in a relatively low attenuation. Huber did make all malt draft beers Berghoff and Gemutlicheit (tasting much like Auggie). Pabst Andeker also had a hearty body in the 70s. In about 80 Pabst made it all-malt. To me, the new Andeker was thinner and less satisfying than the earlier adjunct version. A lot of all malt beers these days don't bring the full body that I'd prefer. It's my guess that brewers these days increase attenuation in order to increase alcohol (they are able to show the alcohol these days on the label).
Seems odd that Bamburana was so good, but had limited distribution, and never repeated. Amburana does grow on trees, since it is a tree! After six years, and hundreds of other BBA stouts later, I wonder if it's as good as I remember?
