Me too. I remember liking it too, but I can't remember what it tasted like.

I made my first trip to Britain in 1995 and returned in '96, '99, and 2000. I drank many cask ales in numerous pubs throughout England, Scotland, and Wales. You say you lived there, but offer Bass Ale and Theakstons as your favorites? Good god, man, what crappy kind of pubs did you frequent? There were hundreds of great cask ales available over there then. Did you ever go to a CAMRA beer festival? Those beers(Bass)were only barely adequate on cask then, the bottled versions you apparently are referring to don't deserve a discussion.

For me it's Two-Hearted Ale. I still really like it on-tap but in the bottle or can it's just meh. Also Pumking used to be heavenly to me but now it's not nearly as appealing. Some say the recipe changed and I'm inclined to agree. Same goes for Immort Ale. Used to be so lovely with the maple and vanilla being front and center. I swear they changed something about that beer because it's just not as good, although I'm willing to admit it could just be my evolving palate. There are others I'll probably remember later and will report back when I do.

I'd say Moosehead, anything Molson, and Pete's Wicked Ale. I drank lots of crap in college but those were my favorites back then. I must be dating myself when I'm saying those were my favorite beers!

For a long time mgd and corona were my go-to.
Then it was magic hat - fat angel. I loved that beer, not so much the 9 packs they sold it in..

Bell's Oarsman. At one time it was my fave, but after trying the New Glarus Berlinerweisse and Schell's Star of the North it really doesn't do it for me. It just seems like it lacks in the flavor department compared to other berliners I've tried.

When I was weaning myself off BMC back in the early 90s, I loved Yuengling Lager. Now I wouldn't touch the stuff.

Dogfish 60 min. I used to love getting a 6 for myself. Now I have one and just doesn't seem special at all.

I used to love Two Hearted Ale. It's still a good beer, and I still enjoy it, but I wouldn't seek it out. It used to be unfiltered and have a hazy orange color to it. Somewhere along the line they changed the recipe. It seems like it was always unfiltered and extremely piney, up until about 2004 ish. It used to be a top pick for me.

Years back I loved Lienenkugel's Sunset Wheat. Not that I would crush a ton, but it was an excellent summer brew. My love could have been due to the fact that it wasn't distributed out west at the time. I don't even remember the last time I've had one, but it doesn't appeal to me at all anymore.

Most Belgian doubles and tripples. A trappist tripple was what got me into craft in the first place, but now I can't even stand the smell of that banana & clove yeast.

Guinness, drank it all the time and thought it was so rich, creamy, and smooth. Now it tastes like smoky water in comparison to Founders imperial and Ten Fidy for example.

    Shiner Bock

I wasn't into beer until college, when Shiner Bock tasted way better than any adjunct lager that I'd had before, so being in Austin I tried everything Shiner and thought they were all amazing. A few short years later, I found myself drinking anything but Shiner beer with dutiful sampling of every pale ale and IPA I could find. Then I finally stepped up my adventure and started trying nearly every style of beer. This was the right choice!

Now only the Shiner Ruby Red Bird and maybe the Shiner Prickly Pear Cactus do anything for me. As my old housemate would say, these two taste like pleasant "beer sodas," while on the other hand I've noticed that Shiner Bock has a distinctive metallic taste that is very off-putting.

*I actually haven't had this since 2007, which was a couple of years before getting into craft. I wonder what it be like now.

Back when I started drinking beer regularly, it was all about. Leinenkugel Sunset Wheat, Newcastle, Guinness, and Blue Moon. Now, I can barely stomach them.
