I drank my bottle of bourbon county rare with a friend before we had a true knowledge and appreciation for barrel aged beers. The true quality of it was lost on us. Wish I held onto it longer.

Did anyone read the OP...this thread is funny.

Sometimes those bottles look good, but in the morning you wished it was still there to get the true effect.

Except when you have your buddy Doug over

I've done that with more beers than I care to count. What seems like a great idea that night can have you kicking yourself in the ass in the morning.

Dogfish Head Midas Touch. First and only time I tried it, I felt fine all night, didn't eat, drink or do anything unusual, wasn't around anyone sick that I know of...purchased a 4-pk, got home, poured and eagerly sniffed. My stomach turned at this point, but I took four sips over about 10 minutes, feeling increasingly nauseous with each one. After sip #4, my salivary glands were working overtime (not in a fun way) and I drainpoured the rest while trying not to honk. After an hour or so, the nausea was gone, and the foul taste on my mouth began to subside. Half a gingerbeer (non-alcoholic) further settled my stomach, and I then enjoyed one of the Burton Batons I'd also bought, with no ill effects whatsoever. I actually returned the remaining three bottles the next day and got my $$ back, since the bottles were about 8 months old- even though the recipe was based off something that had lasted more than 2K years  Could it have been something other than the Midas? Absolutely. I'll never drink it again though.

Pliny the Younger, because it didn't live up to the $12 price tag for 8 oz.
Mateveza Black Lager, Sam Adams Cherry Wheat, anything by Hangar 24 (except Gourdgeous), most Widmer and Pyramid, and all gluten-free beers I've tried for not being very good at all.

I've long believed the bottle's resemblance to Pepto-Bismal is not coincidental.

Sam Adam's Latitude 48. Not that it i drained poured it or anything, It was just the most underwhelming ipa i have ever tried in my entire life. Wouldnt even call it an ipa. An embarrassment for $10 a six pack

Belll's Java Stout. Bought one bottle of it to try and drank it the other day after I was about 6 or 7 beers deep. Didn't even recall drinking it until I went to look for it yesterday and it wasn't there :astonished:

That Rogue Maple Bacon is miserable! Tastes like somebody ran a burning pig through a juicer, then bottled it...

Rollle Bolle from New Belgium did not set well with me. Very few times have I truly disliked a beer like that one. Disappointment is whole 'nother story.

My brothers and I went to Rehoboth Beach, DE for a night of drunkenness at the Dogfish Head Brewpub. I brought a couple bottles for us to have after the bar, including my one and only bottle of fresh Pliny the Elder, for which I had just traded a bunch of stuff.

We returned to the hotel completely hammered off of 120 Minute, Worldwide, and a bunch of oyster shots we took at a bar across the street for some unknown reason.

Apparently, according to stories told to me later, we crushed the Pliny as soon as we got back to the hotel. I have no memory of this and thus have no memory of Pliny the Elder. :slight_frown:
