What's a beer you no longer have access to, that looking back, you probably took for granted? Let's say you moved out of the distro area or the brewer pulled product from your distro area; there's certainly other criteria that could fit. What do you miss?
P.S. I understand that beer trading is alive & well; I'm more focusing on the ability to walk in your local craft beer store and grab something w/ ease.

For me, two come to mind.

Sip of Sunshine: When I was in CT, it was hard to get, initially, as well as limited. By the time I left at the end of 2017, the place down the street from me would sell me a case.

Head Hunter: Living in PA post-retirement, this beer was always available & fresh. I miss it, truly.

    What are yours?

Hop Stoopid. It was the most affordable, widely available DIPA in a bomber back in the day. Wasn't the best, but was a reliable tongue stripper.

Sierra Nevada Anniversary Ale. Just such a solid IPA. Also the various Harvest Ales, they were great.

Also, Oettinger Pils. The specialty market down the block from me in GR had a clearance on it for like $15 a case back in '07. I stocked up. Wasn't the best beer I ever had by far, but the price was better than right, and have fond memories of getting a deal. Haven't seen it since.

Hop Stoopid was a tongue wrecker back in the day. No doubt. Great selection.

    Olympia.
I always liked it as a cheap AAL. Apparently, it didn't make enough money for the PBR ownership.

Wow, I have a litany of them. A few off the top of the mind. Will try to think of some more.
    • Founders Imperial Stout. Easy to find back in the day. A top three no-nonsense imperial stout for me. FIS, I miss thee.
    • Founders Red's Rye IPA. Seasonal release I think, but damn, bring it back too.
    • Those Avery Brewing Co 12oz BA beers which were always present on the local Binny's shelf but I ended up passing by more often than not e.g., Uncle Jacob's Stout, Callipygian, Tweak. Such good beers. Never see them around any more sadly.

Great thread, @TheIPAHunter . A few come to mind. I always thought Founders would continue to see distribution here, but it has been curtailed significantly in the last few years. Backwoods Bastard is at the top of my list of beers that no longer exist here. Man, do I miss this one.

Fresh Pugachev's Cobra from Hangar 24 is another one. I loved this every year until it suddenly stopped being brewed. I totally took it for granted. I am sure there are more, but that's it for now.

Oh man, I’m with you on these! I passed up Uncle Jacob’s Stout so many times and then…poof…they were all gone! We still have older Tweak bottles on shelves here!

    A great thread topic!

I will start off with a beer brand which is discontinued: Victory Helios. A Saison brewed with some Brett. I miss that beer.

    Cheers!

I miss all the old Sixpoint non-hoppy beers like Diesel, A-Big-Ale, Express, Bolshoi, Encore, Rebel Lion, SMP, etc. etc...

I got really in to their beer, and actually started working with them which was a foot in the door of the beer industry. As a result, I left to move out west to continue that career, not knowing that next time I saw Sixpoint it would be all IPAs in energy drink cans.

I still hold out hope that Shane will start a new brewery someday with some of these old recipes back on board.

Sip of Sunshine is widely available here in SEPA. Most grocery stores have it.

I'm surprised by the mention of The Abyss. I was under the false impression that it was distributed nearly everywhere. A shop near me has it regularly so I have been getting it from there. Now you guys have made me think that I may have to stock up. That beer is absolutely fantastic and possibly my fav stout.

    I’ll be that guy -
Taking something for granted doesn’t mean losing something you liked, it means not fully appreciating something.

I’m pointing this out because I was just listening to a brewer complain about customers asking for the brewer to make a particular beer, and then only buying one four pack of it after it’s brewed. Given how embedded this is within a certain part of craft culture, this thread is an opportunity for people to be a little self-critical rather than simply talk about beers they miss.
