    Quick question.

I’ve noticed on beersmith 3 that in terms of color, its much more forgiving in the sense that on other calculators a stout with an srm of under 40 indicates ‘brown’ but on BS even when you hit as low as about 27-30 it still predicts “black”.

Does anyone have any insight as to how accurate BS is with srm?

    Cheers and thanks brethren.

huh...27-30 is maybe dark ruby porter or dark brown...but don't think black. Guess it depends on what glassware you maybe using. To me, the BS color calculator is good, the apparent color though is highly dependent on what glassware you're using....pint glass will look a lot darker than a cuvette. Not sure where the "black" is referenced in BS though (Ah...looks like I'm still on BS 2). Color calculators are a nice reference tools, but don't think you should use them more than just distant guideposts....

Thanks for the help. I’m using the new BS 3 pint glass and I went to settings and switched back to the more detailed glass image and it helped a lot for reference. I think newer glass isn’t as sensitive cuz I agree 27-30 is not black at all in real life.
