I purchased beersmith on my old PC a couple of years ago. Is there a way to download it onto my new mac, or do I need to buy it again?

You would need to download/purchase a Windows compatibility layer in order to run the program outside of a Windows environment. CrossOver Mac is one such program. I believe there are other open source options as well, but they will likely be less user-friendly.

Unless you enjoy getting "geeky" with technology, or have a ton of other programs you need to bring over to mac, I wouldn't bother considering how cheap Beersmith is.

Buy for mac or just run Windows in Parallels or VMware.

If he buys a new version of Beersmith , does he still get to use all his old BSM files when going from PC to Mac?

Looks like you can. I found the following post on the beersmith forum

    "Hi,
Sorry - I'm a staff of one and I get a lot of email - but I try to keep up with everything as best I can!

We do not have BeerSmith 1.4 for the Mac - it is only available on the PC. BeerSmith 2.0 was my first release for the Mac. However BeerSmith2 can read your BeerSmith 1.4 files - even if you move them over to the Mac.

    Brad"

If the MAC version can read old PC files, it should have no problem with the newer ones.
