Excited that I'm finally able to make it this year. Anyone else going? I hear it's been a very well-run event in the past? They just posted the beer list - looks great. Anything in particular you're really interested to taste? Too many to count for me, but I'm actually really curious to try the Smutty 2010 Baltic porter aged in Utopias barrels.

This is my first year attending and I'm crazy excited. BCBVS and Bramble Rye are 2 that I'm dying to try. I'm also anxious to finally get a taste of utopias and some of Foolproof's beers as I've never tried them before.

By the looks of this list though, Goose Island's booth will be very busy all night.

Yeah I was thinking I may have to hit them first for the BCBS variants, or sooner rather than later, as well as the Shelton table (I haven't tried St. Lamvinus yet and would love to). Ideally I'd prefer to save the huge beers until after I've tried some of the smaller ones, but I'd probably burn my chances that way.

HORBAR - have you been to this event before? Does some of the tickerifick stuff kick quickly or get served at later times in the evening?

When I went last year they didn't start Utopias until around 8pm, it lasted for almost a hour and towards the end there hardly was even a line.

They usually post signs stating the times the special beers will be poured. Last year KBS, BCBS, and Parabola went pretty quickly. I missed out on the Utopias.

I went last year and am planning on going again this year. It was excellent last year. I was able to try the Utopias, amongst many other awesome brews.

The brews I am interested in are as follows:

    Victory Throwback Lager
    Long Trail Imperial Chocolate Porter
Sierra Nevada Ovila with mandarin and peppercorn
Grey Sail Fest Beer on cask

Also, I wouldn't mind getting another sip of Utopias as it is excellent and I am never buying a bottle, ha!

I wish they indicated which beers would have pouring times.

Last year you could get KBS and BCBS whenever you wanted until it ran out. Parabola had an 8pm start time I believe. I assume that Bramble and Vanilla will have set times, which sucks if you forget to check your watch.

I never get to go to this and I'm super bummed - this year I'll be in San Diego for a wedding...drowning my sorrows in Pliny.

Looks like an event worthy of a road trip. Might have to make myself available for this.

Better get your ticket soon. I wouldn't be surprised if this sells out in the next week because of the list being released. Also, tickets are more expensive at the door...if there are any left by then.

You make a very good point, will hop on that. Is this an event that has sold out in the past?

I went last year and it was freaking awesome. Reminded me a lot of the Shelton Bro's The Festival in Worchester from 2 years ago. Very top notch event at an AWESOME venue with a manageable crowd and some seriously sick offerings. My advise would be to get there early (which is brutal being that its a Friday fest) as I was 15 minutes early and the line was already a few hundred deep.

Believe it or not, the Walker Bros Prasada went very fast last year, as will the various releases over the course of the night. The only downside to Beervana was the simultaneous releases, so you will have to pick and choose a little bit what beer you can't live without. I can't understand how this event flies under the radar as much as it does, its consistently one of the best beer festivals in the northeast. People just don't want to drive to R.I I guess. No worries, more beer for us!

P.S - Yes get your ticket sooner than later, it will sell out

I just got my ticket to this. It looks like a fantastic line up and I'm glad to here it's a managable space. Although I will try to hit the 'tickerific' (nice word) ones - Utopia, BCBVS, St. Lam - I'm not going to kill myself trying. I'm more interested in trying some of the more unusual stuff from Allagash, Brooklyn, and Smuttynose and some things I've missed like Wootsout and BA Bigfoot.

As a guy from Mass, the other nice thing about this is that I can sample through some of the breweries in RI and CT that I really haven't tried. I've only had a few beers from Revival, Walker, Greysail, Footproof, Trinity, and Two Roads.

My biggest problem might be pacing myself so I can drive home.

Wow, I can't believe I've never heard of this. I usually work Friday nights. Hopefully someone can fill in for me. Google says it's 38 minutes from my house.
    The venue looks nice too.

Ya, this will be the 3rd time I get to go to this event. I went in 2010 and 2012. Seems to get better and better each year. The beer list this year looks killer!

I'm going and very excited about it. I've never pulled the trigger on a beer fest before. Should be fun.

Well if you've never been to any beer fest, this is one heck of a fest to start with! You will freaking love it, but don't be surprised if anything you go to afterward will pale in comparison.
