Beervana on Oct 19

Hope it's a great time - looking forward to hearing about it. Got in the car at 4:45 to head down but the clusterf*ck Boston traffic put the kibosh on that with a 2+ hr estimate, so we turned back. Also could never get a response from the Beervana folks on tickets at the door.

 

It was a very well run fest. I have never been to the Beervana fest before but the venue was excellent for the shindig and the brewers brought some fantastic offerings. It took a little while to get into the building since the line was a mile long, but once inside the venue was nicely spaced out, yet intimate. I didn't make it to the Educational Seminars but it looked like Garrett Oliver and the Paquettes did a great job as the conference rooms were very full.

I still can't believe I got to try KBS, 2000 Stille Nacht, BCBS (on draft), multiple Cantillons, Allagash's Mattina Rossa, and many other surprises that blew me away. Sadly I missed out on the 2009 Utopias and Parabola. Oh well, you can't try them all! Overall, this was a gem of a festival and one that was worth travelling for. For those who went to The Festival in Worchester, it had a lot of similarities. Would definitely go again!

 

I am not a fan of the idea they use to not open the more popular beers untill a certain time. I missed a few things that I waited in line for right when I got there only to find out it wasn't being poured until 8:45. Get back to the front of the line less than 10 min after and it's all gone. Who benefits from this strategy. It sucks from my experience.

Don't get me wrong I still had a good time just trying to figure this out.
