What's a beer drinker to invest in? Glass pints to frost in the freezer? Porcelain beer steins? Pewter mugs? Does it vary by the type or style of beer?
Don't frost beer glasses for one thing. For another thing get snifter glasses for higher ABV beers and regular pint glasses for IPA's, Pales, Lagers, etc.
Get yourself a Sam Adams perfect pint for your all around, go to. Also get a nice snifter for your stouts and big beers. Dogfish Head sells a couple of nice ones, including this You can really make do with about 2 or 3 decent pieces, but if you want to see the amount of options, check out the @Highbrow collection.
I love beer glassware, and any thread related to it. But to get by, all I really need is a shaker pint and a balloon glass. Or globe glass. Or snifter, whatever the hell you want to call it. I use an Irish pint glass for sporting events, my 1.5 liter Paulaner dimpled mug for rare celebrations, my german boot glass for equally rare celebrations, and I never use a mason jar.
Quit now, go with an all in one glass. Don't be like me,I have thrown out all but two coffee mugs because my beer glass collection, and I use them all, has overtaken another shelf in my kitchen. Wife friggin hates it and I cannot in good conceince downsize. I can't wait for my kids to outgrow sippy cups.
Or if you are an up and coming glassware ***** check this http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/show-off-your-cool-glassware.31909/ My wife has hated me since 1985 so I guess I am stuck with her !!!
