After, except when waxing a car.

What is that you say? Beer is life!
Seriously I find that despite thoughts to the contrary, beer is not empty calories. Instead it provides additional impetus to get the project done.

Lately I've been waiting till tasks are accomplished and I can slow down and enjoy the beer. Otherwise I'm rushing around during projects and sometimes forget about the beer.

Haha, it’s quite the opposite for me, I’m drinking a beer or two and forget I also have stuff to do.

After...if I'm working, I'm not drinking, and if I'm drinking, I'm not working.

I voted after because I generally don’t have beers before 4pm when at home. Sometimes I may have a beer before dinner and do a 15-30 min chore after dinner, so it’s really about the timing more than a correlation of beer and chores. Agree, using the chainsaw, climbing ladders etc…that’s a no-go after having beer.

Reminds me of a funny story I guy I use to work with told me about a riding lawnmower and one too many beers, and him being dragged and holding on for deer life as him and he's mower careened into his front porch. I have to laugh every time I picture him with a beer in one hand and steering wheel in the other and the porch getting closer and closer.

I voted "after," with a caveat. If it's mowing the lawn, doing yard work, shoveling snow, and the like, then definitely after (if at all). If I'm at home doing online trainings and stuff for work, then definitely during (if I'm not having Scotch or Bourbon).

It depends on what the definition of work around the house is.
