Belching Beaver's Sour Program

Batch #1 is in the tank and they are waiting for glass to package. A small bottle filler has been acquired.

A couple of weeks ago they released Me So Sour for draft only. That was a barrel aged saison with Me So Honey as the base beer.

 

First release is August 13th, a raspberry blond sour.

 

I am excited. Peter does some great things with his beers.

 

Maybe "Handful of beaver"?

 

The actual date for bottle release right? Are they going to use BPT or something similar in between now and then? Stoked for this release!

 

Can't wait for those immature beer names for the sour program! Oh man, "Wild Yeast filled beaver!" Man, I'm laughing already!

 

Stay tuned for details. I don't know for sure but I think it will be BPT.

 

Is there any plans to do a Beavers sour milk stout?

 

You can still get bottles at the original brewery and NP location and try it for yourself.

 

FWIW, I grabbed a bottle of Batch 1 at the original brewery yesterday, and was told by one of the ladies behind the bar that to her it's still a little young and would benefit from sitting a bit longer.

 

Batch 2 is out in a couple of weeks. Got a sneak peak of it and it's awesome. Honey saison base with peaches and apricots. Much different from Batch 1.

 

Batch 2 is quite good. Checked out the OB tasting room on Saturday.

 

Just want to chime in on their sour stuff. Batch 1 was pretty good, definitely reminds me of the older Toolbox beers in a good way. Picked up bottles of Batch 2 but have not yet tried it, though the staff told me it was very good. Just a quick recap of the Sour Batch series so far and the ones to come...

Batch 1 - BA Raspberry
Batch 2 - BA Honey, Peaches, Apricots
Batch 3 - Red Wine BA Sour (Pediococcus)
Batch 4 - Hoppy Brett w/ Citra & Galaxy
Batch 5 - Red Wine BA w/ Masumoto Farm Peaches, Nectarines

At least that's what Westcoaster said in their article. The staff told me that they will likely have Batch 3 out next month which leads me to possibly conclude that these could be monthly releases since the first batches were about a month apart, though they said they will be ready when they are ready. Looking forward to more.

 

Yeah, next month for Batch 3 which will be during their anniversary.

That Batch 5 though....

 

Anyone going to Belching Beaver Oceanside for 4th anniversary/Oktoberfest? Going to nab me some Batch 3 bottles and enjoy the barrel aged offerings.

 

Hoping to stop by but I have something else planned earlier.
