I shall have this beer more frequently as it is absolutely divine.

And that beer tastes even better when served in a Tripel Karmeliet tulip glass:

Nice! Are those patterns etched or painted?

The fleur de leigh might be etched (it is not raised) but the Tripel Karmeliet logo is painted. I make sure to hand wash this glass to preserve the logo.

    Cheers!

With all due respect for you guys, Karmeliet is owned by AB Inbev.
A beautiful glass and an ugly beer. Too much coriander for my buds.

The ancient Romans had an expression for this: De gustibus non est disputandum.

In English this basically translates to "In matters of taste, there can be no disputes".

    Cheers!

    Van Steenberge Vintage Piraat 2012

"An impressively sound beer 11 years later and an interesting showcase for an aged Belgian ale. "

This smelled incredible (green raisin, fresh cream, fresh apple & a hint of nutmeg) but was a bit blunt (read: dry) on the palate, with leather and dry raisin coming on strong. Interesting, but I think relatively fresh Piraat is better.

Nice! This is an amazing beer, and one that tastes amazing even after 20 years of aging. Cheers!

Albion from Templin Family Brewing in SLC.

Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours a nice opaque yellow with a solid 2 inches of white head. Tons of lacing. The nose is grass, lemon, orange, leather, yeast, and slight caramel.

The taste is fantastic. Relatively sweet for a tripel, but I love it. Sweet caramel, vanilla, yeast, plums, apricots, banana cream pie. Lovely.

The mouthfeel is somewhat creamy. Definitely not a typical tripel, but I would say this is more approachable for someone who isn't used to Belgian tripels. The ABV is completely hidden on this one. Dangerous!

Finally got around to trying this and I'm quite happy I did - wonderfully expressive yet refreshing on a punishingly hot day. Full review here and in NBW #168. (4.3/5).

Here's a great quad and one the best beers Red Rock has done...It's pretty thick and has a great boozy hit, sweetness works good with the booze. Really small batch..I wish they released more

Another great local quad from Shades. Similar to the Red Rock but not as thick...a litle sweeter to, it's a regular in my local lineup

I don't know If Belgian Golden Strong ale is a typical Belgian beer...but this is a great brew from Wasatch's top of main series. Light honey and straw with a little booze and light carbonation. it's a really nice brew

Prior 8...a stone cold classic from St. Bernardus.
Almost like an English Porter, with earthy, mild chocolate notes and a creamy mouthfeel.

Just a hint of funky yeast on the finish nmoves this into Belgian bliss territory.

Also had a taste of an 11 year old Abt 12 magnum the head brewer brought to crack (@ the Hopleaf in Chicago, for reference). To this trash palate, it was improved over a fresh vintage...smoother & more cohesive.

Another St. Bernardus classix, Pater 6.

I prefer the Prior 8, but this is still a world class Dubbel. Smooth, and somehow substantial but easy to quaff.

Enjoying a 2022 Christmas Quad from a local Asheville area brewer Zebulon. This one is partially fermented with wild yeast and aged in 2nd use barrels and with cherries. The base beer attributes are solid but the Quad yeast impartations are disguised. The barrel is not obvious with each sip but does a nice job of balancing. Finishes with a wild cherry flavor.
I would love to try Mike Karnowski's base Quad as i consider him an excellent brewer and grand beer historical brewer and i suspect his base Quad could come close to the masters in Belgium.
    Cheers!

Made Brazilian fish stew and thought this would go well. Part of one of those holiday 4 packs I grabbed last year. Generally there is no tax on top of the listed price at a grocer. Since this had a glass I was charged full tax on $24. Anyone need two Chimay chalices? I asked why and got no answer I accepted. I was pissed on principle. Carmel cola some bitterness mineral taste and a tad dry on the end. I have not had this beer in well over 20 years. I used to grab a 25oz to pop on New Year’s Eve each year. These were always a treat. The glass is thanks to the old Khyber Pass Pub, it walked out with me one night in the mid 1980’s.

I can’t watch the Phillies implode again so I am listening to WPRB and chilling out.

    Enjoy
