My local supermarket in Tokyo recently got a section of belgian beers. I am excited to try many of them but they seem a little pricy. They are all sold as singles. Westmall double and triple are $6, Orval is $5.50, La Chouffe is $5.50, Duvel is $5, Chimays are around $4, Maresous 6, 10 are $5 and $6, Duchess Bourgogne is $5.50. How are these prices to what you get in the States? Thanks!

All of those are insanely reasonable prices.

yea..alot of those are cheaper than what I see. Alot of shops have the chimay blue for $7 a bottle, orval $6.00, the Westmalles in the $6-$7 range, and the rest are about the same. Buy those...all of them.

Yup, those are some pretty fair prices. Buy them all... especially the Westmalles, Orval, and Duvel.

That is cheaper than the used panties from the vending machines in Tokyo.

Sweet thanks, I will pick them up! Just to be clear they are single 330ml bottles not bombers.

Beyond reasonable, even! Some of those prices are lower than here in the States! Here's hoping they're not all 15 years old or something...

A lot cheaper if you're talking 750s. If they're single-serving bottle sizes, then it's still a good price. Buy a bunch and try 'em out!

Maybe we're spoiled in Florida. Those prices are about 20% higher than what we're paying (at least in the Tampa area)... and that's with a 10-20% increase in prices over the past year. I'm glad I stocked up on them when I did.

I have over 70 Belgian bombers and about 100 330s in my "cellar" all bought about a year ago.

(Ohhhh, and 11 Westy XII still too) :grinning:

Some of these beers would taste absolutely amazing if they were 15 years old though, and would fetch a lot more $!

I'll chime in with the consensus here: those are normal prices.
