I went over most of this thread and think my input might be of some consideration.

Belgian IPA's are a style that is VERY hit and miss, working in a liquor store for 2 years i could have noticed this with out even drinking any myself. The way i look at it, This style needs to be brewed as an IPA first in terms of malts and hops, then add the belgian yeast, making it a Belgian IPA that most craft beer drinkers like my self will enjoy.

Now many of the "Imported" Belgian IPA's or BIPA from belgian style brewers, end up i think starting as a belgian style, with the extra hops added to make it an IPA. Now maybe im off the mark here, and im sure some one will think my analysis is wrong on this, but in my experience these, IPA's with Belgian Yeast are always better then the Belgians with extra Hops.
