Anybody ever order from this website? https://www.belgianwhalez.com/home They have some impressive, albeit expensive, bottles for sale.
I have not ordered from them (or any online beer retailer for that matter) but I immediately went through their site looking for Faro but to no avail.
I really regret not trying Faro when I used to see the Lindemans one periodically years ago (didn't know it would be a such an elusive style years later )
This December will be my tenth year on this site and marks ten years of writing beer reviews - that Lindemans Faro is still my only tick within that style. Years ago, I set a goal to tick each style at least twice, and Faro has proven more tricky than Happoshu.
On a whim I searched for Faro and Landlord on the Binny's Beverage Depot web site. Both came up in the search, and both were listed as NOT AVAILABLE at all stores. I used to see both of these on the shelves around here all the time. Might this have something to do with Shelton Brothers ceasing operations? I'm really curious now. Also, I was happier before I knew belgianwhalez.com existed. Pretty sure nothing good is going to come from this.
I was just looking at another beer retail site based on Belgium and all three of their Faro style beers were out of stock.
I am pretty sure my only tick in that style (Lindemans) was purchased at a Total Wine. When I travelled, and I travelled a lot about ten years ago, I would always stop at a Total Wine (and in California the BevMo), so that I could bring back beer with me. I don’t remember where I purchased it, but searching Total Wine, it is available in three Total Wine stores in California (San Diego, San Marcos and Encinitas). You may want to call and verify, they also ship and since you are in Nevada there is a good chance they will ship to Total Wines there because of the proximity (although I don’t ever remember any Total Wines in Nevada and I drove there a few times).
There are (or were) Total Wines in Nevada. I stopped at one or two on a hiking trip in CA, but flew in/out of Las Vegas! Funny enough, I was just at the Total Wine near me - no Faros.
I checked Total Wine’s website, no Faros available in Reno and the closest one in stock is Timmermans Faro at the Pasadena Total Wine. I’ll check out the shipping options though like you said. Looks like my whale might be within reach!
