Hey everyone, Sorry if there's a good thread already for this but I searched and didn't find anything specific to my questions. Going up to Bellaire Friday afternoon for a Bachelor Party Weekend. Hitting Short's Friday night, Golfing Saturday morning and chilling / grilling the rest of the day. Any Short's Brewpub tips or good things to eat? Also heard about the Bellaire Smokehouse and that sounds great. Any tips on either of those places or anything else a can't miss in Bellaire? Cheers!
Lulu's is a very good restaurant. Shorts makes great food too. And do you need tips on drinking there? Just yes to everything. I have a soft spot for the Dairy Twist also.
No... just didn't know if there was any insider tips an outsider might not be aware of. What's good to eat there?
Pretty much everything. Everyone has their own personal favorites, but I've never had anything bad there.
I would definitely try to get to shorts as early as possible if you are planning on staying there a while. Thier seating arrangement is somewhat janky, and it's not on a traditional first come first served basis. It's basically who can jump into any open seater faster regardless of how long you've been waiting. The wife and I had to wait about 20-30 Minutes and ended up sitting with two other couples we never met. The place still rocks and I am definitely looking forward to going back
Eat the sketches of winkle. Thank me later. Also any soul they have get that. The smoke house has decent bottles. Don't expect to be wowed....
The wife and I were there the weekend of June 13 and ended up bringing home a whole case of bender. The bartender said they had a lot left, but that was 6 weeks ago...
I was up there earlier this month and it seems to me they need to expand for more seating. And I hate the whole, hover over a table so you can sit down right when someone gets up thing, makes me feel like a jerk. But many of the breweries I've been to do this so I guess I have to deal.
As someone mentioned, Rent a pontoon and cruise Torch for a day...Cleanest lake you will ever swim in...
COLD lake this year though. I'd maybe swim around the south sandbar area, but deeper water is still cold.
I'm not the best man, I'm simply a man, so I think we're all going along with the adgenda he set up. Don't really feel like it's my place to guide the group. I do love Torch though... been up there multiple times as a youngster.
You might mention to those in your group that Elk Rapids has some stuff going on this weekend. Harbor Days is from now through Saturday night (great fireworks show on saturday night), and also Shortsfest is going on on Saturday. https://www.shortsbrewing.com/events/shorts-fest-2014/
