Yeah, that was just in response to DISKORD saying sours are overhyped and overpriced.

Same here for me in CT. Can't wait for Expedition. Hands down one of my all-time favorite stouts!

    Cheers

Lagunitas BA stouts are pretty much the only ones under $5 a bottle in California. Did you not drink any other BA stouts before that?

So sours are worth the money to you, but BA stouts aren't? Can you help me understand your rationale?

Which is exactly what it was. I really enjoyed it, though it also wasn't a beer I gravitated towards too regularly.

Firstly, how would you know if they're similarly awesome if you don't pony up the cash to try Black Note?

Secondly, $5 is not at all expensive for a single 12oz. bottle of Black Note's caliber (I don't even think it's that great personally, but that is beside the point). BA stouts these days easily reach $1/oz. and more, and I'm sorry, but Lagunitas's offerings are very good, especially from a value perspective, but they don't hold a candle to some truly fantastic BA stouts that unfortunately cost more, Goose Island BCBS (the standard release) being the easiest example to point to.

You're free to spend your money how you want, of course, but $5 is not a lot of money for a single beer, especially a nationally-renowned BA imperial stout. People are paying $8 for a can of NEIPA these days, to put this in perspective; compared to that, Black Note seems like a steal.

I saw bell's oktoberfest in northern michigan the other day. I'm sure it'll be all over soon if it isn't already. I've heard very good things (on here) about past years of this beer. I'll buy some soon to taste the hype.

I came into this thread to ask about Bell's Oktoberfest...I'm always hoping to try at least one or two new Oktoberfests each season so I suppose I'll give this one a try.

When you go out do you buy Coors light? Seriously? If this was on tap for five bucks I’d buy it in s heartbeat

I tried it just last week and was a bit underwhelmed. I may have had too high of expectations because I love bell's, but to me it was a nice beer. A nice marzen. But just nothing I would really chase and something I would easily pass on for other octoberfests.

I really like oracle but I've got to say that to me Hopslam was the first DIPA type beer that I really loved. It also needs to be fresh and well stored to avoid becoming a bit of a hot syrupy mess but when in good shape, my good god man, that is one beautiful beer.

I feel like some others have more intense flavor, but I could hammer bells octo way easier. So damn drinkable it actually makes me like it more than I normally would. It just tastes and feels really clean and refreshing. I did rate hacker-pschorr slightly higher (in my mind)

Never said I didn't like Hopslam I just like Oracle a lot more. And actually Hopslam doesn't have to be fresh to be enjoyed. Had one at 6 months this year that just sat in my fridge and was quite delicious and not a syrupy mess.

However Oracle is just so much more Piney, dank, and resiny I have to give nods to Oracle over Hopslam. To me Oracle has that bigger hop bite I love in a DIPA.

First time I ever had Hopslam, it was six months old. I loved every second as I was just licking the honey off my lips.
