Bell's Black Note (2013)

I'm too new to this to know where all the Illinois hate originated, anyone care to explain?

 

I was at Bell's General Store an hour ago & no Black Note nor any info on it.
They did say they've had close to 10 calls today about it due to the picture

Just picked up a 2014 black note, got to love how ass backwards distribution is

This seems to be the reverse of the Bourbon County distribution story here in the Twin Cities, where most of the variants rolled in later than they did everywhere else (especially Backyard, which just showed up a couple weeks ago!).

Anyway, this is a very real release with very real bottles labeled as 2014. Hopefully it starts showing up in other Bell's markets ASAP (especially Michigan where it really should have shown up first).

 

It should've shown up at the Bell's General Store before anywhere else. I'm thinking the distributor screwed something up and didn't read a note with it.

 

If it's a choice between buying KBS or Black Note, I'm going with Black Note.

 

To me I don't see the probability or likelihood of a small store in Minnesota getting this before anyone in Michigan unless it was a mistake as someone else mentioned.

I noticed that too. I'll be at several of those so I'll ask what batch year it is. Who knows how forthcoming they will be but worth a shot .

I would like to make this comparison if someone wants to trade me a Black Note .

 

I feel a closer comparison would be between BCBS and Black Note. KBS has less bourbon character than both and an all around different taste imo.

I'm not debating black note>kbs, but if you are going to do a side by side, that would be a more objective comparison.

 

Agree - now if we could just get GI and Bell's to release them at the same time, you know, for science.

 

This is all over this twin cities today. Big stores and small stores. Selling out quickly

 

Just talked with my salesman from the Bell's distributor in Michigan. Asked if she'd heard anything about Black Note this year, she said no word yet. Told her about a store in Minnesota posting a picture of what appeared to be '14 Black Note, she sounded surprised and said she would look into it. Got a text back a few minutes ago that they will be getting a "very small quantity" of Black Note bottles "in April" for distribution in SE Michigan.

So it would appear that the picture is indeed of 2014 Black Note. If I had to guess, the Minnesota distributor probably just released it early.

But this is good to hear. But still odd MN would get it before us. Doesn't make much sense but I guess that's black note for ya.

 

Apparently the folks over in the Midwest forum don't know how the Society works...

 

I'm relieved it hit MN before Chicago. Yet somehow the 'Ganders will find an excuse to blame that on the FIBs.
