Bells Black Note (2014)

12 oz. I acquired 2 in a trade, switching out 2 KBSs for it. GL is scarce in NY, and I've never even seen plain Blackout in NJ, so I couldn't tell you about prices.

 

Ahhh, so did you try it yet then? Your findings?

 

Did not try it yet. Have one in the fridge and another in the cellar.

I have also yet to report my findings on KBS and BN for that matter. I had KBS on draft once, and it was magic, but that's hardly an environment conducive to constructive analysis. Never had BN. Never thought I'd ever have BN.

My haul this year from trades and lucky shopping was:

3x 2014 KBS
1x 2011 KBS
1x 2012 KBS
3x 2014 BN

 

I'm in Decatur and came across 12 by chance in a neighborhood corner market at $6.99/12oz (and no, I didn't buy them all even though there was no limit). You're not going to find this beer at the craft beer specialty stores or the liquor stores that carry craft beer - if you find it, you'll probably find it somewhere that generally has a good craft beer selection, but isn't frequented by rabid fans of beers like this.

 

Probably just my taste, but I actually prefer this year's KBS over this years Black Note. I think the KBS is wonderful this year! IMO, BN is quite sweet and I like the Coffee punch of the KBS a bit better.

Had my first BA Blackout last month and have had the 'Big 4" prior to that. I love regular blackout and I thought BA blackout was amazing, probably a notch below pt5/bn/bcbs, but definitely in the mix.

 

Yes, I was thrilled with my haul. Didn't even expect Black Note to appear in NY this year, or any year. And it's not like I have time to troll the city. Just got a couple of tips, which I followed up on (please excuse the horrific grammar - up on which I followed?) to net 2 of the KBSs and BNs, and the other 2 were lucky finds.

The trade, from which I received the vintage KBSs and the BA Blackouts cost me a Madness & Civilization #3, which required $15 (1 bottle limit) and 10+ hours of round-trip driving, and which I will probably never see again. The trade also netted me a Hunahpu, so I don't have grounds for complaint.

Local place in Brooklyn got a shipment today and was lucky enough to get the last bottle.

 

My corner store got a case in this afternoon, actually sold it by the 4 pack, was lucky to get 1 before they sold out!

 

Found a single bottle from Whole Foods in Charlotte last Friday afternoon. I just happened to be in the store, saw a guy with a single BN in his cart and ran to the beer guy. He said they got 1 case, but all the bottles were accounted for. Of course I was discouraged and as I was walking away he told me to wait a minute.

One minute later he returned with a bottle that other employee had saved, but then changed their mind about wanting.

Right place, right time.

 

was able to obtain a 4 pack from Beverage Source in Newark, OH...I have not tried it yet and am curious as I've been wondering about KBS and Sexual Chocolate

 

Well you'll keep wondering, because BN doesn't really taste like KBS at all...

 

Picked up a 4 pack in West Bloomfield MI yesterday. Looks like Rave, the distributor, is starting to get it out in SE Michigan.

 

Everywhere around me just got there 1 case today. I was lucky enough to drive around and get four of them.

Also, I saw the invoice on top of the case as it was delivered. The whole case was 110$. I want that price.

I keep hearing about whole foods getting in other places but none of the WF in the Philly area seem to be getting it. Everytime I ask I get the Oh we aren't getting that line. Does wegmans normally get a shipment?

 

None in MO yet Sad as I think this beats BCBS and KBS hands down
