    In my opinion:
Based on this years releases, all being a first try ever for me of each: BCBS>KBS>BN of which all are WAY > Dragons Milk

I've had a lot of the "Big dogs", and yes, Black Note is right up there with all of them. For me, these are the big 4 in BB stouts:
    • BCBS
    • KBS
    • Black Note
    • BBPlead the Fifth
I can never place them in order of my faves because it seem like when each one comes out fresh, it pops to the top of the list... So I just think of them as my top 4 and Black Note is right there at the top along with the other three.
Since Bell's uses their Double Cream Stout, it makes Black Note a very smooth, and creamy feeling stout. Seemed a bit sweeter than I remember in the past.
At any rate, I bet you'll love it if you like the other stouts you mentioned.

Not likely. Even the lesser known stores have been picked clean.

Individual opinions will vary but there is a reason the beer is highly sought after.

Agreed. I personally enjoy KBS and Central Waters Bourbon Barrel Stout more than BCBS.

I'm beginning to believe that I will never get to try Black Note. Life goes on ... In your list of BA stouts you mentioned Dragon's Milk; a mighty fine BA Stout indeed. It, along with the equally fine Central Waters BA Stout, are readily available. You don't give your local shop owner a headache asking for them each week and, they ease the pain of missing out on the latest limited release.

Sure, I've never had either. Not too particular about which one I try first. I have but only one bottle of the BN though.

In my opinion, nothing is as good as Bourbon County. BC is a 10, Black Note is a 9.5, KBS is a 9, and Dragon's Milk is a 7 (but it's easily accessible).

You're most likely getting Chicago disto. I've never seen it in Indy or Fort Wayne.

I managed one bottle of BN in 2012, one in 2013 and two this year. It is fantastic in mu opinion. Now, that being said, I had my first KBS last night and it was very good too, I just like the BN better because it has less coffee flavor to me.

Black Note was last week in AVL. Came and went with the quickness.

That's cool. Everyone has different tastes. I still think that the Central Waters products minus the Peruvian Morning are as good as it gets for me. Especially the Bourbon Barrel Barley Wine from them, and the Central Waters 16 is my perfect 10 as far as stouts go.

Mcrago, FW actually got both. You generally have to be in good with the store managers to get a shot at them, as the frequent buyers generally get first crack. I know the in th stores I frequent they never hit the shelves. But I generally get a text when the whales get there.

I agree 100%. I had Black Note on tap last month and it was pretty good but I love BCBS.

Just for argument's sake, as long as you included Pt5, would you put BA Blackout anywhere near that list?

If I ever tasted it, sadly, it would have had to be so long ago that I wouldn't be able to compare them to the others... I do remember having regular Black Out and it being pretty good.
I would pick up a BA Black Out if I saw one around as long as the price wasn't way out in left field anyway. What price does it usually go for? Probably bomber style right?
