Bells bourbon barrel cherry stout

General Store only release, 750ml, bottled 10/15 /12. Yes, these were bottled over a year ago and cellared by Bell's.

 

Would not give up too much for this. Have had on draft before, and it's a good beer, but nothing mind blowing. Good luck, OP.

 

I wonder what kind of trades have gone through for this. There are some big bottles being asked for.

 

I know of one trade getting done that was 2 bcbcs + Voodoo AB BBVD for 1 BB Cherry.

 

Agreed. The base cherry stout isn't that good at all. Some of the FT:ISO threads for this are mind boggling.

 

Someone else made a good comparison though. Regular Dark Lord and Barrel Aged DL. I've not got, or had, a bottle just regurgitating someone else's opinion.

 

I would disagree with that comparison. I don't think the difference isn't that pronounced. Barrel aging a beer doesn't automatically make it amazing. I like bells cherry stout and the bourbon barrel version, but I don't think they are incredible.

Also anyone looking for cherry rye part II will be disappointed.

 

Fair enough, and I wasn't saying that BBA Cherry Stout compared to how good BADL is just that BAing a beer can make a mediocre beer much better.

 

If you're offering a DBH i'm sure someone would BM you in a hot minute if you post an ISO. Seems awfully generous. I would still expect someone to add to the BA Cherry. But who knows its too early. While its a limited bottle count It has been released before in a different format and is on tap every now and again. Sometimes shows up at beerfests as well though Ive never tried it.

 

I would be surprised if this beer held even close to the current trading value in a month. BA Cherry for CBS? Really? Probably will land around the value of a Dark Lord or a few KBS/BN/BBPt5 in due time.

Just my guess. I'm very curious to see what completed trades on this are landing.

 

opened a bottle yesterday and thought it was effin awesome. that being said you have to like more of a tart cherry to like this. for me the combo of the tart cherry and the barrel is outstanding. personally it would take a pretty big hitter to take one of my two bottles but that may not be the case for everyone. the only trade i know of that got done so far was for AB BBVD. ive been thrown quite a few good offers and have been turning them down.

 

Unlikely as most people with BA cherry have those beers. Though if someone adds to the cherry they may be able to land something good.

Some people will want it solely for the notoriety. Not saying that's ok. That's just what some people like to trade for.

 

yeah i agree. i dont know why anyone would trade BB Cherry for any of those beers unless it was a lopsided quantity.

 

True. Obviously volume to make up $4$ and certainly a bit over, but not even close to the level of a CBS or KBBS which is what is being asked for from this beer right now.

 

KBBS is certainly a stretch. CBS i could see getting done, especially if you consider CBS might not really be what it used to be. i can tell you i would not trade a bottle of BB Cherry for a bottle of CBS.
