Put things off long enough and you, too, might find yourself doing housework during Saturday evening!

Maybe I'm weird, I have drank more Oberon this year because it tastes better than past years in my opinion.

Haven't seen bottles yet. Be interesting to compare to the cans I bought.

I suggested to my wife that Bell's could be an option for a Mother's Day dinner. Maybe wherever ELSE she decides will have Oberon on tap.

You may be closer to reality that you know. She leaning toward going to Albion Malleable.:slight_smile::slight_smile: Ever been there? They're a notch or two above Bell's for food menu options, and have a Mother's Day buffet scheduled. Plus Belgian-inspired ales for a classy change. (She's a keeper.)

I only have had one this year and thought it was as good as ever. Best by date of Sept 25 on 16 oz can. If I remember correctly, there was a perceived difference between the cans/bottles a couple of years ago- something similar now?

I’ll have to experiment to see…mine had a good bitterness at the end but not out of place from what I’ve come to expect.

My samples have been from a six-pack of cans. I'll have to check the BB date, but I think it's similar (I'll check later). Haven't seen the tallboys, either.

I’ve had them on my list —I want to say they were closed when I passed through last, en route to Ogma. Enjoy the visit!

Turns out we stayed at home and had a steak dinner. With dinner we did a comparison of the Hofbrauhaus Original and their new Helles. She was all-in and enjoyed that. Write-up to come later. (I do that part.)

Ha, I was going to suggest dinner at home- have a bucket of ice on the table with some champagne or white wine bottle in there for her with a few bottles of Oberon sprinkled in for you.

Nice thoughts, but sadly no Oberon, champagne or white wine in the house. :sob:

There go the rumors of the 40th Anniversary beer being an Oberon variant... :open_mouth:

It wasn't like an "Oberon Ultra" because it's not like a light version of Oberon. Oberon Light has added orange juice and natural flavors. It's the craft beer version of compensating for the reduced flavor of a lighter beer.

I've compared the two a few times years ago. Personally, I'd rather buy bottles. One time the difference was so drastic between the two. Couldn't say if it was luck of the draw (batch or abuse differences) or something more inherent. For me, how you pour (or leave) the sediment can also make quite a difference with Oberon. Is Oberon only produced in Michigan these days?

Just keep in mind I'm being anecdotal. Would hate to have you buy another pack of something you've already been disappointed with.

But others have mentioned bottles being better, too.
