My thoughts exactly. Two places have it around here, one selling it for $30.99/ bottle. No f'in way, not for me. I am too poor to throw my money around for shit like that.

I know there was an issue with a NYC bar selling Bell's stuff and he raised a ruckus about it (it's not distributed in NY, no quality control on his part etc.). Not sure that's the only reason for NY-hate. I can't imagine he would hate the state for one bar's actions so maybe there is more to it.

My wife made me buy a bottle of the Elijah Craig BA, and then asked why we didn't get some of the others. Umm... because it's 30 BUCKS A BOTTLE?

This is awesome. Upstate first...kick ass. Can't wait to try some Two-hearted. I wonder what distributor they will be using here in the Capital District.

Good question. I'm from the Utica area but living in Syracuse, which are two different distribution networks for whatever reason. I think Albany's in the same grouping at Utica, right?

Hmmm. Distribution to Upstate first. Well here in NY, there are very different ideas about what is upstate. For some NYC residents, upstate is the next county up from the Bronx, or Westchester and out west can mean New Jersey. For some Westchester residents, upstate starts at the northern border of the county. For everybody else, upstate may start at Albany, include the I-90 corridor and the Southern Tier. So I'm curious about what Bell's considers upstate NY.

Let's hope it includes Rockland County! (I suppose I'm one of those...)

I am glad to read of this being a possibility in our near future. I believe Bell's previously expressed the dislike for the three-tier system of beer distribution in NY, but there could have been other roots in that distress.

Do we know when this will happen. (sorry if it's the article, didn't read through yet)

This could be inaccurate, but this is how I picture NYS beer distribution: https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=...5156&spn=16.342609,35.112305&z=5&source=embed

When I was a kid, I lived in the North Country so when people said "upstate," I assumed that meant my area because it was as far upstate as you could get. Wasn't until high school that I realized "upstate" meant "north of NYC"

If Albany is central NY, than Upstate must start around Glens Falls, no?

Living in NYC my whole life, Ive always considered Upstate to be starting at the Catskills region. I wouldn't consider Westchester, Putnam or Rockland counties Upstate.

What would be so different about NY State's three tier rules than those of every other state Bell's ships to?

Haha I thought the same thing.

It was something much more petty from what I have heard, but I won't pass that rumor/second hand info on as if I know it is true.

Glad profit trumped pettiness in this case, when I get my first locally bought Expedition Stout into a glass all will be forgiven.

That's what I was wondering. I know NY has some dumb rules, but are the beer distribution rules that different from everyone else's?

Great news. Always love to hear when such a highly acclaimed brewery will be added to what I can purchase without trading or driving forever to get. First Founders, now Bells.. what's next? I can only pray that Alchemist's expansion will mean more Heady closer to NY!
