When Bell's posts something official about it is usually the green light. Back in early 2013, when they released Black Note 12 ouncers, they posted it on Instagram and Facebook. Gloves are off, then.

As much as I do like conversing with the general store workers their information only last so long. First hand accounts tend to be a tad more accurate when it comes to bells sneaky releases.

how can it be any more first hand than talking to someone that is staring at the cooler? i assure you that you will get a much more reliable answer by calling than you will from this forum.

In experience, ala black note. I have called and they have mentioned to me we just ran out. A few hours later low and behold more has shown up. Anyways, thank you kind souls that PM an update. (Also in a situation where I cant make the phone call but can be in front of a device) hope this helps.

For what it's worth, I called on Saturday when I was on my way to Kalamazoo to ask if this was available and without being prompted they said they had it in the cooler and they were looking at "about a half a pallet left."

I thought you might be kidding until I saw him chime in to confirm it. Haha, what a knob.

People know on day one, there is really a lot of information being shared despite what people may think. It all comes down to where you share this information. Many peoples loyalty lies with the community they live in, not the online beer community.
There are few beers more polarizing than Cherry Stout, for the most part people either love it or hate it. Don't let the score fool you into believing there is not a large number of people who love this.

The BA Cherry is absolutely outstanding. Having been at Bell's when BA Cherry, BB9K and Black Note had been on tap simultaneously, I drank BA Cherry nine times out of ten. Only BA Expo rivals it in my opinion.

I see more circumventing of the bottle limit from out of staters than I do locals. This is not to say locals do not walk away with multiple bottles but the idea that locals are loading up on bottles so no one else can have any is ridiculously over exaggerated.

Also somewhat impractical...most of the locals know and are known by the General Store staff. When they know you by name, circumventing the bottle limits is pretty unrealistic.

If you're going to give value to a beer based on its rating then a BA cherry scores higher on untappd then Bourbon county cherry rye...so there lol.

Does anyone know why some bottles are numbered and why some are not? I've heard this from several people

sure i get being loyal to the local community, its one of the reasons i love Shorts so much and also a reason i like the way Bells does their special releases. many people seem to take it too far though. i was told i lost Michigan friends because i posted a pic in the latest hauls thread. these "friends" sure as hell werent going to tell me about this release. im not asking people to share all the info, if i lived in the area i would keep a secret as well. that being said i would understand when it did get shared and i wouldnt get all upset.
the bottle we opened the other night was amazing. i can honestly say if a bottle of BB9K and BB Cherry were sitting next to each other and i had to choose one that it would be a tough decision. i have the two bottles of cherry and it would take a heck of a lot for me to trade one. i think some people dont really care for the tart cherry but the mellow barrel with the tart cherry is really damn good.

i would imagine its not too tough for a local to go in each day and buy two bottles. im not saying there is anything wrong with that as i would do it too if i could afford it.

I believe this. Expected great things and this was a bucket pour for me early at FOBAB 2012. But I know I'm in the minority. BA Batch 9000 rules the BA Bells lot from what I've been able to experience.
