i called this morning around 10:30 and got through pretty easy but that was before word got out. 2+ hour drive for me and got there around 2. it was pretty quiet at that point but by 4 there was a constant flow of Black Note cases coming out of there. not too surprised they were having trouble getting to the phones. id also imagine they received a silly amount of calls today.

 

Curious. Why wouldn't you contact me before you posted this. I can take care of you on Black Note. Send me a BM. Your in box is full.

 

I like Oberon tremendously and think Black Note is not good. Why anyone would put Bell's Double Cream Stout in a Barrel is beyond me.

So that's good news: One less Chicago resident cluster-fuckering up a BA Stout release!

 

They have a guy named BJ who looks like he could be Brett Porter's younger brother, who told me that at the counter tonight. The biggest question is was the 7 pallets set aside for essentially one of several deliveries to the general store, and today was just the first, or is there just this one release of 7 cases for the 2014 Black Note release and that's all Bell's plans to release themselves?

Based on history I'd bet on it being the former and after they run out tomorrow, there will be another General Store release, possibly days or weeks later.

 

I picked some up yesterday, no hassle whatsoever.

@joromiller gave me the tip and I drove down there with my GF (after she got a job!), arrived shortly after 4 pm. Pallet was dwindling, but it was my understanding that they had more coming. The guy I bought it from basically told me that his understanding was that it was released because of the MN distributor releasing it too early. I didn't see any mules, but I guess they're mostly hidden in plain sight.

Oberon is delicious, like always. That beer is so much more than just the flavor; it's all about the feeling of community togetherness and springtime. I'd rather share an Oberon with a BMC drinker than a Black Note with someone who used their friends to mule three cases for trades.

 

Anyone get some this morning yet?

 

Maybe we should just assume it isnt sold out until it hasnt been in the general store for a whole day.

I remember when BA 9000 was almost sold out for 3 days. It seemed that there was only a couple bottles on the shelf for three or so days even though people kept buying it.

 

Yesterday at 6:00-ish, the pulled in a new pallet and I got the 2nd one off it. Think they are just keeping it stocked as much as humanly possible.

 

Cleaned them out. Back to illinois.

 

There was a half pallet still in the cooler when when I walked out of the store at 10:30. There had been a line of about 20 people waiting to get it at 10:00 when the store opened. Just about everyone was buying a case.

 

Considering there's like 6 spots in the parking lot, I'm assuming lots of Illinois plates just double parked on Kalamazoo Ave there?

We NYers are new to Bell's distro, and I don't have a great deal of faith stores will sell these by the 4-pack. Had my first taste of BN at SAVOR last year and hot damn...
