You won't be disappointed! I still think Overrated might be a little better, all my beer buddies think I'm insane...first world problems...

Pretty fresh. Hoping the hopslam Ohio gets is at least that fresh.

Although it's obviously at its best the first month or two, I personally feel it holds up well over time. I've had 6-12 month old Hopslam a bunch of times and it's still delicious, but not the same beer..

It most definitely is, I would love to have this bad boy on tap, bet that would be insane.

Abrasive is not year round? damn! I'll have to check around for it. I was also under the impression that HT costs dearly, Abrasive was just over $10 a 4pack when I picked it up. Expensive, but not laughable in this age of beer.

Anything beyond 6-7 months is really pushing it -- at that point, you're pretty much drinking honey water with a little hops mixed in. I sat on a case for 9 months one year, and when I drank it, it was pretty unrecognizable.

Abrasive is usually November through March with the last canning dates being in March some time. I've never seen it for only $10 a 4 pack, great price if you can get it for that. I usually spend $14.99 or so on it, but it's a staple in my fridge this time of year, man I love that shit.

Wish mine was that fresh. The sixer I picked up yesterday in Chicago is 12/27/13.

I actually think it tastes better than last year's version. When i first had it 3 years ago it was like a hop-bomb went off in my mouth. Now it is more subtle, but great flavor. Obviously the amount of DIPA's out there has grown exponentially, but it doesn't have to blow you away with hops to be a good DIPA.

Same here, sharp extremely balanced hop attack that I've not tasted since, I don't know if the beer is different or my palate changed. I still like the Slam though.

Let's see $15-17.99 for a six pack of high quality craft beer, or $10-14.99 for a four pack of some other similar high quality craft beer. Not really a rip off to me when you do the math.

Matter of fact I give Bells big time KUDOS for still selling their beers in 6 packs, that's the way it should be IMO, and I don't mind paying the slightly higher price for 2 more beers in a pack!

I'll look for it on tap, and I'd have no problems buying it for $17 if I thought it was worth the money, but last year I didn't. My 1st sip of Hopslam was a revelation, but that hasn't been true in a few years, whether it's my palate and exposure to other beers or batch variations, I don't know. But I do enjoy HDR much more than Hopslam regardless of price. But it's always worth a shot, last year I just think it lost the fruity goodness I love, and went more dank and pine, but that's me.

$15 is about the lowest regular price you can get it for in the Twin Cities. Absolutely my favorite beer in MN and maybe the world...happy to pay $4/can.

fwiw - The 4 packs are 16oz ers, so really it's only 8 oz of less beer than a standard 6 pack, not 2 whole beers.

Not sure what you're referring to talking about 4 packs are 16 ozs, are you talking about Hopslam? I've only ever seen it sold in 12 oz 6 packs where I live.

I was talking about Abrasive (4 packs) when you were saying another comparable high quality craft beer vs a 6 pack. No biggie.

Batch 12530 may be one of the greatest beers ever produced. I've been drinking Hopslam for 7 years. It's always fantastic. But 12530 is something special. Pat yourselves on the back, Bells.

Friendly beertender at Friar Tuck's in STL said it will be released throughout Missouri on Tuesday. Don't know if anyone else heard anything. I heard it may be released tomorrow (Monday 1/20).

Looking forward to seeing this on Wednesday (crossing my fingers). I'm having a get-together on Saturday and may do a side-by-side of HT, Hopslam, and Abrasive. All of them will be fresh as a morning daisy. :grinning: Either way, I'm excited to just drink good beer!

I've never kept it around very long in my fridge, but what is the consensus on how long the hops stay so bright and juicy.

I got a case of the 12/20 bottling and I detect no change from when I first started the case to now. 12/20 batch is as good as ever.

Woah now. Let's not get all wizardy here. Let's get those ranges out of the way and compare your bottom of the line to the top of the line. No pulling the wool over our eyes.

    $10 four pack - that's only $2.50 a bottle.
    $18 six pack - that's a whopping $3....oh.

    Ahem. As you were.
