I was digging around the Bell's website earlier today and saw that there's an event in Raleigh on Feb 8th: http://bellsbeer.com/events-2/?select=1&pkeyEventID=7907

Based on the description, this event has the first kegs in NC. My hope is that means cans are going to be sold the next day on Feb 9th. If anyone can confirm, I'd greatly appreciate it.

You can always share the mini keg with friends. That's what I have done.

    Fair enough.

Also very right, if you have a couple friends who are into craft (unfortunately most of my buddies are bud light drinking construction workers). I do enjoy sharing some of my better stuff with guys who aren't really into craft, but have only found one buddy who actually enjoys it lol.

Feb. 1 six packs hit the Binny's Liquor store by the house in the Chicago metro area. No sign of mini kegs.

The mini kegs flew off the shelves it seems limits kept hopslam from disappearing quickly like last year it seems

Still waiting for Hopslam to hit South Florida shelves. Called Total Wine and they said distributors should have it by February 8th. I'm just hoping that it will be somewhat fresh by the time it arrives and that the canning date wont be from early January. At least I'll have access to fresh Jai Alai IPA to hold me over until then.

I got some in from a trade because i dont want to wait for it to get to FL with a month on it...i just had one...it was pretty decent for an ipa...my palate must have changed drasitcally in the last couple years. the first time i had this beer it was such a pineapple/fruit bomb and now it seemed like just a run of the mill IPA

That definitely seems like it would be the way to go. Unfortunately I don't see Bell's brewing fresh Hopslam just for us Floridians. I have yet to try Hopslam so I hope that my first impression of this highly renowned beer will not be marred due to sitting in the can too long. I would enjoy looking forward to future releases of this brew instead of thinking of it as "Hypeslam" as many have referred to it.

its good don tget me wrong...but 3 years ago, so many beers were hard to attain..now, all NE ipas are attainable. I would put the majority of those above hopslam, but if i can get it, i'll still buy 6-12 every year.

Even if it turns out to be somewhat disappointing I'll still be glad to have at least been able to try such a highly regarded brew. Now if only Heady Topper was attainable for us Floridians, then I could surely die a happy man haha.

NE IPAs are attainable if you trade (which also requires buying limited release beers that people want to trade for) or live locally, Hopslam is far more attainable, it's not even close. My chances of trying some of these sought after NE IPAs are slim to none. If Hopslam were year round, I bet it would just sit on shelves once the novelty wore off.

i think if you establish a trade partner, you can end up getting them for seasonal distro releases....yea the double sunshines and MBC dinner are on another level of attaining them...but i have been good to my NE traders early on, and now can get those beers relatively anytime i want. shipping and florida having a lot of great hoppy beers itself has reserved me from having a steady supply. But, not everyone is out to take advantage of someone trying to get these NE ipas.

I was told that it will be hitting the shelves next week. Depending drop scheduling by Harris and Jeffereys that will determine when it is available. So, yes. I would expect it to start showing up in retail stores / shops beginning on Tuesday the 9th.

Gotcha, I just have no desire to trade, I can't justify the cost of the shipping. The one time I traded, it cost me over $20 to ship out a six pack.

Having my first can of this year. Canned on 1/27. Its delicious, very well balanced. Great hop profile initially with a perfect amount of bitterness lingering. Somewhat sweet, but hey its brewed with honey.

Nitpicking, but the honey added is 100% fermented out. It is quite sweet from the malt body though.

Good point. I cant quite describe it and maybe its just knowing that its brewed with honey. Something about the sweetness I taste is different than other double IPAs that have somewhat of a sugary quality to it.

Maybe its just more because of the honey or maybe the flavor of honey. I'm getting a similar aftertaste as some meads (which I also like a lot). But hey then again maybe it is just know that they used honey and I'm bullshitting.

It could just be the malt but I dont think that they use some special malt that is not used in any other beer that I've had.
