Bell's Hopslam 2016

Ha I know. I mean Im not saying its not the best DIPA but I have yet to have another one that tastes anywhere near similar. I think it just became cool to hate on this beer.

 

I just scored a Hopslam mini keg. How long will it stay fresh/carbonated after I tap it? Anyone experiment with this yet? Anyway to prolong it??

 

We have sightings in NWFL! Picked up a six pack for $18.99. It's just as good if not a little better than last year.

 

3 days max after that it goes flat

 

Picked up a sixer in Asheville tonight. $20 bucks. I got sucked into it this year again. I would rather have 12 other good IPA's for the price.

 

Hopslam starting to pop up in San Diego. Got a couple sixers from Bristal Farms in La Jolla for $14.99/ each. Not sure how I got away with that price

 

My parents said Wegmans in Binghamton (Johnson City) had a big stack. They called saying they picked up the last sixer, but there was a stack by the refrigerated beers. Curious how fast it sells, because in NJ it'd be gone in an hour. They didn't think there was a limit.

 

If you're in the NY area, Press 195 in Bayside Queens has a limited amount. Just had two out of the can for the first time and I couldn't be happier. Get it while you can!! All puns intended!!

 

Southwest Georgia just got them in. Enjoying one right now.

It's tastes like Bells brewed this batch without concern of it tasting like previous years.
That's the beauty of craft beer right? The recipe may switch because it is a small, once a year offering.
Since it was in a can this year, I looked forward to cracking one and releasing a hop aroma. Nothing. This year it is a sweet malt bomb.

 

Smooth and sweet, yes. Not exactly what I was expecting. Is that what Bell's was intending to brew?

 

It's 10% ABV so it's going to be somewhat sweet. They've been making it for over 10 years so pretty sure they intended to make the beer as it is.

 

I'd say astringent. Boozy. Wife and I split one, and usually I hog it all. This one I kept passing back to her.

 

All DIPAs are sweet.
But you have to dry hop the shit out of something called "Hopslam".
This beer has a rep - we buy it because it will give us a hop/malt balance with a killer aroma.
You will hear more about this.
Love Bells - but not this beer this year.
Next year I will buy a single.

 

I felt the same way. I wish I would have bought a few singles like last year.

 

I'm not going to beat up this beer anymore – just chalk it up as a L.
But I will check back to see how many people agree with us

 

This beer should be widely available in Missouri now FYI

 

I had 3 thanks to my beer guy but meh at best this year. I liked last years better.
