So I got my hopslam yesterday, and as I said I would I bought 2 six packs and the mini keg. 18.82 after tax per 6 pack (which was cheaper than I got last year at 19.99 before tax) and 32 for the mini keg. The package date on these were 1/10. That's six days old. That's fresher than any batch of zombie dust I've ever been able to get after distro and I'm in Indiana. Thanks Bells.

My 2018 tastes closer to a pilsner than a DIPA. What is this is, Bell's?

Evil Twin Molotov cocktail and Stone Enjoy by are the only 2 mentioned that really compare to Hopslam. But neither of thoseare brewed with honey. Plus I'd give Hopslam a longer shelf life.

I don't believe hoptimum has honey, just some good ole whole cone hops. However if I'm not mistaken I believe they have honey flavor coming from malts but not from real honey. So I guess hoptimum and Hopslam are the best comparison beers. But blows my mind 90 minute DFH was listed above. Not to say that's not a good beer but price on that one Is relatively the same and DFH 90 minute has nowhere close the flavor of Hopslam.

Reading through this thread has given me a serious jones. Haven't had this one in maybe 3 years. But I may have to go out later and track down a classic.

I believe Great Lakes Chillwave/Alchemy Hour is, or at least was, brewed with honey. That is another high ABV DIPA that was pretty much beloved back in the day, but has been met with mixed reviews in recent years.

Another one to store away in the "changing recipes vs. changing palates" files.

I'm fairly certain there is no honey in Chillwave, just honey malt.

That said, I think it might be the best comparison to Hopslam...especially the last couple years. Lately, I've found it (Chillwave) big, boozy, sweet, and bitter. Very little of that bright, tropical Mosaic that I used to get. That is exactly how I've always found Hopslam...big, boozy, sweet, and bitter. Almost none of the myriad hop flavors that are possible, just bitterness.

I'm glad it has a very dedicated following. Every year I buy a 6-pack to see if my relationship with Hopslam has changed, and every year my neighbors get a porch bomb with five well-made, highly sought after beers.

Now, let's get to fixing Chillwave...or my palate.

Chillwave is indeed honey malt. You can read about it by clicking here, if inclined. Great beer!

I used it to have a couple of glasses at Beer Authority tonight. So it's officially here, and should start showing up at other locations this week.

I'm looking forward to picking up a six-pack as soon as it hits my local bottle shop. I don't recall it being overly priced but I do recall it being very tasty.

Is it in shorter supply this year? I'm seeing St. Louis stores didn't get as much as they expected and ran out within hours.

Great to see HopSlam in stores and even on tap. If we can get a Black Note release next year like this one, I’ll get a new beer fridge.

Any chance I can be your neighbor?

The few times I've had Hopslam, it's been fairly dry and not overly sweet... I'll happily take a 5pk of those.
