$17.99 for a 6-pack today in midtown Houston.
Haven’t had it in two years bc I’ve passed on it. Considering what we pay for limited release 4-packs, this seemed like a good price to me.

To brew another beer at an adequate amount they’d probably have to drop another beer from their lineup. Do they really want to try and make a $19-20 dipa a part of their regular lineup? It’s my opinion this beer also doesn’t age all that well,it’s a tad malty and sweet to start with and when the hops fade a bit, it turns pretty quickly. Then it sits and then the wheels come off. Given the dynamics of this beer it's best just as they market it, the quick come and go is true here as well, but in no way should that be indicative or a predictor of year round success.

Odd marketing indeed- but it worked !! 20 bucks a six- I bought two,I found a liquor store where this guy got 17 cases and I would bet still has some. I asked the same question about the "Fresh hop" thing.

I think it has to do with when Bells started distributing to the area... Didn't I read somewhere in this thread that this is only the 2nd year it has been available in TX.

The lowest I’ve seen in Houston is $16.99 at a Total Wine.

Again, a solid price considering what we all pay for limited/periodic brewery-only-release-4-packs

I paid 15.99. For a six pack of reputable DIPA that is not bad. My first two cans did not impress me though. Maybe my tastes have changed over the years as I used to love this beer.

I've been buying this beer for a decade. The first few years I had it, I didn't even know about the hype. I still remember the first time I opened the beer. My wife was on the other side of the room and said "damn, that smells good." I loved it right from the start, just an eye-opener of a beer. From year-to-year, it's had some ups and downs, some batches are more aligned with my palate than others, but it's never a huge difference. It's no longer my favorite beer, but I think it's well-made and always enjoyable.

Truth be told, though, if it were available year-round, I'm not sure if I'd buy it. Not because of rareness or hype, but just because it would probably get lost in the "you know, I really should buy this more often" bucket. There's so much competition that I wind up passing on a lot of really solid IPAs simply because they're 3-4 months old. I generally have room for 1, maybe 2, 10% DIPAs in my fridge. Make this year-round and I'll probably pass in favor of a fresher local. Release this once a year, and I will buy at least 1 six-pack in perpetuity (Costco pricing definitely helps in this regard).

I’m in Myrtle beach area and it might still be around. I haven’t checked because it’s a terrible beer not worthy of any hype.

"Terrible" is a strong word to use for this beer, although I recognize we all have differences in our palates. I'm not going to say that you have a 'terrible' palate for taste appreciaton, but you could be leading a lot of people astray with your choice to use that word.

It’s my opinion that’s it’s terrible. Some people like it. That’s fine. I don’t tho.

    Right.

Again, $16.99 for a 6er of an annual release is not bad considering what we pay for limited brewery only releases that are 4-packs.

A rating of 3.94 indicates a 'terrible' beer? This descriptor varies some from the BA 'Very Good' descriptor of the same score. And what sort of rating descriptor does that mean for beers which score less than that?

Why is everyone so butt hurt over this? I’m just some random dude with an opinion...
It’s a syrupy sweet mess of a beer that people have some sort of self perceived nostalgia over.. again my opinion.

Drinking temperature is important in all beers, including higher ABV brews such as Hopslam. Any flavorful beer, to me, is best at 50 degrees or warmer. I learned this during a spell in Germany. With Hopslam, the balance of sweetness, both malt and honey, and the bitterness and dankness of the hops, is most pronounced at 60 degrees, very much in line with stouts, old ales, etc. I enjoy the 6 or 12 I buy each year. The price? That's another matter of opinion. Cheers.
