The General Store has bottles. I just picked up a sixer. It was like $10.62 plus tax and deposit, so around $12 out the door. Presumably it is headed to normal distribution.

I also had some on tap in the cafe, and it is quite tasty and interesting at the same time. Some smokiness, some roastiness, some dryness, some sweetness along with a light taste of molasses followed at the end by some black pepper after the beer has warmed. 9% ABV. Strangely enough, I couldn't taste the hickory bark. That seems to be a waste for an ingredient. (But I don't even know what hickory bark tastes like.)

For anyone looking to rate or review Neptune it's located in the archived beer section for some reason

Maybe the hickory bark gave the beer its smokiness?

Ah just caught that you'd said ARCHIVED beer section. My bad, thought you were passive aggressively telling mother goose to not post about beer tasting notes here. I don't reed so good.

haha. I can kinda see the confusion. My comment was in no way aimed @Mothergoose03. I just thought it was strange that Neptune was moved to the archived beer section on or shortly before the release date. Neptune should be moved back to Bell's current beers section so we can rate it...tree bark and all

Agreed, it was probably added way too early, like when the planet series was announced. Now I'm ready for all that black peppery, mapley, spicey, hickory, molassesy, dandelion rooty, anisey, raisiny, datey goodness!!!

Any word on when this will hit SE Michigan? I'm assuming next week?

Not much out there on how this is tasting? Got 3 bottles but haven't had a chance to try it, and won't until the weekend. 3 six packs at one of my local stores but at $18 a pop. If it's that good I'll pick it up, would hate to spend that money on something average. What's the consensus?

I'm probably in the minority, but I thought Neptune was the worst of the series. Borderline undrinkable. I split one bottle with a friend, and I don't think I could have drank any more than that.

To me, it tasted like a burnt rubber tire coated with black pepper. Too many flavors in this that all mixed into something thick and gross.

I'm still not seeing it in SE / Ann Arbor area. Did it come and go that quickly?

Had my first of the six last night.

Alas, it was after golf league so I'm not too sure what I think of it.

I didn't drain pour it, I know that. The only brews I've failed to finish this year had habanero.

I gotta say, this is really interesting in a very good way. Nice chewy sweetness initially turns into bitter chocolate and some of that cayenne character. I'll be seeking out more of this. I thought it'd be a muddled mess but it's all working pretty good other than I don't get a lot of the maple syrup.

I enjoy this one at room temp much more than out of the cooler

If you haven't gotten it yet in the East Lansing/Lansing area you might want to hurry up, probably only a few places that don't have it yet.
